mqstout: "Surprise, GOG no longer does offline installers and is Galaxy only, and allows online only games now!"? What a mess that would be... ....
is there a way to script download the installer files for specifc games please?

I found some python script but that tries to download the entire library I have.. I don't want that. I just want to be able to choose specific games to download the offline installers for.

thank you.

MasterofFiction: (... ) "They really have been pushing their marketing e-mails hard lately. It would be nice to know why. I have zero interest in the free game, but I usually pick up the freebies anyway. I won't this time just to show that I don't support them pushing so hard for their marketing e-mails." (...)
Exactly.

Even more, I for one would like to know if GOG automatically deletes all data gathered through the marketing programme approval collected during that small window between someone claiming the game and then excluding thy self from said programme.
And fyi for potentially "but ..." people: amount of data gathered is IRRELEVANT - it could be LITERALLY anything from "nothing" all the way up to "way to f***ing much" - it's the sheer fact that's collected that's important. Correct me if I'm wrong but in this case it doesn't seem to be even specified what is the scope of and how much of what data when for how long is collected. Which is a worrying sign.

This "we will take your data and here is a 'free' game" seems to be becoming a new tradition on GOG lately.
It's quite an overflowing bucket of GDPR and privacy concerns.
Things need to be addressed already. What is the data collected? For how long? Does GOG transfer it to 3rd parties?
And so on. And generic answer simply doesn't cut it. We need specifics.

And before someone says "it's only marketing emails" - yes, well - it's pretty obvious they (specificly GOG ones) are HTML heavy - do I have to elaborate at this point? - they can easily contain trackers and a whole plethora of other analytics / telemetry stuff.

gog2002x: Now the Visa promo for the Children of Morta, that one made me uncomfortable and so I avoided it.

That felt too much like giving my info directly to Visa rather than to say my bank's credit card department, which is understandable (and unavoidable lol). Even the 1st tier support agents don't see all of your info on their screen. Not sure about the higher tiers.
How about the fact that since introduction of Google Pay on GOG it is now required to let scripts from pay/google/com to run to LOAD VISA CARD INFO that was saved on GOG before Google Pay was introduced? Does that give you any privacy related red flags?
People complained to GOG and GOG still did not fix it.

Swissy88: I agree it's annoying and they push it for practically no reason but who cares
If you don't care about your privacy enough to be bothered then it's your problem. Obliterate it or ignore it. It's entirely up to you.
But don't say it's "nothing" - it's A LOT whether you see it that way or not.

ChrisSZ: If I want the freebie but not the e-mail spam, can I click on "Yes, and claim the game" and later go on https://www.gog.com/account/settings/subscriptions and revoke my consent? Will that later action override the previous consent?
THEORETICALLY yes. But it's pretty unclear what happens to data gathered in the meantime.

-Nachtmahr-: Everyone should buy Prey, an underrated masterpiece!

But man, every sale is the same: I have that one game on my wishlist and it's the only game that never gets a discount on a current sale until I am not interested anymore. Please add Chernobylite to the list.
Ah! Prey. One of my fav games (pending fav).
It has truly glorious steelbook. One of the best I hv ever seen in this industry.

I hv Talos I mug on my desk ;) Wait... I don't recall buying two...

I am 90+ % sure you can tweak it to download specific list of titles with syntax switches.

Thank you both for your comments. You two took opposite paths and enjoyed your rides. Looks like a have a new addition to my wishlist.

When you are on Linux you can use LGOGDownloader.
If not, gogrepo.py probably also can do that, but I've never used it.
Just out of curiosity: does Fallout 3 GOTY get discounted higher that 60%?

I've seen it get to 75% before. It's been a while though.

low rated
Boycott GOG after they banned a game because of the Chinese communist party.

The game won't run? I haven't had any problems last time I installed in it Windows 7-64, but it was a few years back.

I didn't realize until today, but it turns out I also had an unused code of that game at that 75% off price and was going to offer you a trade for equal value, but it looks like I was too late.

If it won't run, check the game forum. They usually have plenty of solutions by now. Make a post there if you can't find a solution to your specific problem and list the basic specs on your system so people can help better.

If you're referring to gogrepo, yes, you can download specific games. Once you've updated the manifest (this will gather data on all of your games) with something like this:

python gogrepo.py update -os windows linux -lang en

You can then download specific games using the ids that are output from the above command (where stardew_valley is the game and ../GOG is the location you want to save the installers):

python gogrepo.py download -ids stardew_valley ../GOG

Just add -dryrun as another argument if you want to see what it will do without actually initiating the download.

Good luck. Gogrepo is a great download tool.

Thanks anyway.
I wanted to replay the game for years but didn't want to mess with the CD installation, yeah I checked the specific forum for people having issues like mine but it's a sum of regular problems and my weird setup and just to do the usual trial and error would be a mess, so no Fallout 3 for me.

Can we expect another freebie today ?
avatar
Martek: Then BOOM. Yes - it does goes on sale. The very next day. Less than 24-hours, actually.
In case you or anyone else reading is unaware, they have said they will refund the difference if there is a lower price within 30 days (even if they don't write back within the 30 days). It is still annoying and at the moment might take quite some time for them to make the refund. I have one pending for Kingdom Come: Deliverance that was $4 less this time than the Friday/Monday sale and they sent out a message saying that support has received many times the number of requests than ever before. When you write, mention how you want the refund since they always seem to ask even if you purchased with wallet funds.

I'd not expect any event before Monday, today is a holiday in Poland.
