No, because the only reason to stay with Windows was DirectX and I have no hope that any game I'd want to play will come out on DirectX13.

tomimt: If MS delivers on speed gains and removes all the unnecessary clutter as well as advertising they have, then sure. While I do like Windows 10, I'm not a fan of MS having turned the star menu into an advertisement platform for MS store stuff no one wants.
Yeah, I'm also afraid that Microsoft might advertise his stuff more aggressively in some places of the system. I hope however that at least W10 standards will be kept.

Paradoks: As far as I know, this is framerate related and not really system related. The problem is that for some reason frame-locking doesn't work - but I am not really sure who is to blame - Windows 10 or Nvidia (I know everything worked fine on Windows 7 and AMD).
This might be true for the teleport glitch but not necessarily for random freezes. I tried limiting fps and forcing V-sync. None of these worked. After applying the wrapper, everything works flawlessly.

I also don't expect any major changes, at least not on the release date. If rumors are true, the system will be slightly faster. Besides that, it'll have mostly start menu changes and visual lifting. But we have to keep in mind that a new version of DirectX will appear sooner or later and it may be the main "selling" point of W11.

Never say never. ;) I doubt (like others in this thread) that DirectX 13 becomes a reality on the release date of W11. But eventually it might come out and be a W11 exclusive.

Random freezes are affinity related. That was a problem ever since dual cores appeared in Windows XP era. The V-sync is what I was talking about - for some reason it can't be forced on most current systems (not fully at least - tearing is gone but registered framerate is still huge). But I'm glad you got it fixed.
I am certain Microsoft has planned to move Windows to a subscription based service for many long years now but not sure if it will be now but now it at least looks like the first plausible time for it to happen. Same time they will probably discard the last way to install Windows without an MS account (yes, it is still possible).

Intel's next generation of processors is rather peculiar and needs a lot of reworked support from the operating systems. Most probably will not work, or work very sub-optimally, on Windows 10.

If I am planning to upgrade? I did not even install Windows on my desktop but did make a partition for it when and if I get around to it, if I ever will. Wait and see and not rush for me.
I will most likely upgrade. I've historically been luck with Windows upgrades prior to 10, which took about 2 years to work properly for me from release in 2016.
Sure, I'll be updating to Fedora 35 and 36.

I kind of doubt that. It's only relatively recently that more games actually started supporting DX12 decently, and the few that only run on it are minuscule in number. Couple that with the fact that the new XBox is a DX12 machine, it'd really surprise me if we saw any new version for some time to come.

They can't even get Windows 10 to comply with European data laws, what indication do we have that Windows 11 will be any better?

Even then I probably won't be able to run it :'D Seriously though, I hope Vulkan gets its act together or some other viable open source competitor comes up. If / when windows takes the Mac route (as is likely) and starts killing off features and tying stuff to accounts, I want no part of it.

Why linux fans always troll topics about windows?
It is like they are a cult or something.

It should be released in a couple weeks ;)

What happened to Windows 10 the last version of Windows? Goddamnit I hate upgrading, every time you do it it's a coin flip as to whether or not your installed old games will work on the new Windows. I'd honestly prefer a subscription based system where you pay for a few years of Windows.

Insert coin to play Windows.

Do you really want to turn your PC into an OS arcade machine?

I'd say it's much more likely we'll see additions on top of DX12 than an entirely new version of the DirectX API. Think of it as a DX12.1 of sorts - that is if they decide to upgrade it in the first place. The aim with Vulkan/DX12 is to move most of the emergent tech stuff to the realms of what game devs code on top of these low-level APIs.

How is it any different than paying for an anti-virus subscription? For the right price I'd prefer it to upgrading to a completely new Windows. At least then you are assured that the interface etc will always remain the same.
