Turkish Lira Price difference is massive between GOG and Steam

Sometimes normal steam price is cheaper than gog price + a huge sale.

I don't know how Steam affords supporting Turkish Lira but it is really cheaper compared to GOG prices.

I know having DRM-free games is amazing but price difference is way too much even for that imo. (like x2-3 times)

I hope one day GOG prices for Turkish Lira will be able to compete with Steam.

1. That you need to ask GOG directly, but I doubt it. The usual currency is USD and EURO.

2. After regional pricing got taken offline the price got steeper for some based on their own currency/country. The price difference is there for everyone, and also it's the price for buying DRM-free. Besides, it's the devs/publishers who set the price - not GOG.

I guess publishers also set it higher to (naively) "compensate" for any pirating - but as been proven and researched, STEAM games are on the top of the list over pirated games, mainly due to size of the shop and the sport in cracking the DRM.

Currency support and regional pricing are entirely different things. Can have regional pricing but no currency support, meaning that you need to pay the price based on your location and in USD, or USD or EUR if in Europe, and can have currency support but still pay the base price, meaning that you need to pay the base (US) price converted in your currency at GOG's current rate (and usually rounded up to the nearest "psychological price"),
What you're really asking is Turkish regional pricing, and more specifically Turkish regional discounts, since regional pricing for Europe otherwise typically means higher prices than the base (US) ones, even for non-EU countries like Serbia and Montenegro.
And GOG's system does support regional pricing for Turkey, but I just see one game currently using it. However, GOG's standard is quite clearly price increases for EU countries, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia and Montenegro and discounts for Russia, former CIS countries, South America and China. Publishers can set things differently, but that probably means setting prices manually for each region to add the differences, and they have little incentive to do so in order to add discounts.

Turkey's young population more than other European countries.

According to the 2018 data in the world's largest gaming market in Turkey it is # 18 in the list. Poland ranks 23rd on this list.

You cannot ignore such a young population and gamers. Popular stores such as Uplay, Epic Store and Steam support Turkish lira. Why is GOG against selling in Turkish lira?

Selling in a currency which lost over 40% of it's value over the last year might not be the smartest choice.
Also GOGs userbase is way smaller than steams so then making a subcurrency here does not really make sense for them for a "small" (yes top 18 is small) gaming market.

But why for Poland though? Because GOG is Polish.

Spreading out to more areas would not be a bad idea but GOG withdrew from Brasil, which is bigger than Turkey. Bigger market? I do not know how big a percentage can afford to have a computer from the last fifteen years or so in these countries. Finding things like that out is GOG's marketing department's job.

Probably due to the currency risk, plus they're not likely to incur expenses in Turkish lira, so they won't have a natural hedge.

When it comes down to it, most companies only really want USD, EUR and GBP. Depending on markets that they serve, AUD, CAD, NZD and CHF are also reasonably well traded (plus potentially their local currency if they pay dividends in local). Some companies may be happy running the risk on things like INR or MYR (although good luck getting those out of the countries in question).

The only thing you can do is ask, although all it's likely to do if you get it is to mean that you don't pay the foreign FX charge - unless they bring in local regional pricing for Turkey it's not going to change the underlying price.

There ARE Turkish developers whose games are sold here at GOG. Not sure in which currency they prefer to get paid though.
