Okay you lost me right here. XD

Oh wait, I think I get it:
NSFW

PokeyMinch: The whole NSFW thing goes beyond exposing that content in public, its also about wanting to separate it from the rest.

When you go to rent a movie, you dont see adult movies blended with the rest, and for a good reason.

When you go see a movie at the theater, you dont see adult movie posters plastered on the walls, and for a good reason. If there are any posters they wont be showing explicit content.

When you go do Mc Donalds, you dont want to see dick shaped Mc Nuggets on the menu right next to what you're thinking of ordering.

GoG needs to separate games that are meant to entertain from those that only try to give you a hard on.
All of the images and trailers on the store pages are SFW. So unless you buy the product, you won't see anything.

As for the McNugget thing...well, I mean...it's not a very good point :p

While I'm not really fond of his argument, and I'm being kind by saying it that way, I think what he meant was that it's being shown with other games period. On the box of a porno you don't see anything NSFW, but that doesn't mean they shelve them with the Disney movies. He doesn't want the games advertised on the regular page because of the games themselves, not what you can see on the card.

That's unfortunate, we're going to advertise the new releases. The content on show is all SFW, the only NSFW is in the game itself. They'd need to buy the game, install the patches, and see the content. This is many more steps than what is being made out. I feel like it's repeating the same points each and every time a game like this releases. It's quite easy to avoid clicking on the games, you've never forced to, nor is there a 'next' system.

PokeyMinch: An adult section would also be welcome considering the amount of NSFW content that is being added constantly and mixed into the rest.

BreOl72: What is it lately with all these "NSFW" complaints?
This is the fourth or fifth that I stumble over.

When you're on work - stay off the internet.
Problem solved.
Excatly my thought. And which adult content is he even talking about?

I want to stress, without saying something that is going to get me in trouble, that I couldn't possibly disagree with him more.
ESPECIALLY under these circumstances.

GOG doesn't need to change a thing here and I hope no one is worried about this one guy.

You guys have my full support! It's much more healthy to have the risque stuff presented just like any game genre. A bit like the Playboy Magazine which had both nudies and great articles.

Porn is hermetically sealed away from the rest of the web. And as a consequence, it has grown stale and dreadful. I don't want the same to happen with games. I want inspired stuff like HuniePop.
Devil's Advocate here:

The original post stated that it was more than just NSFW stuff that could be filtered. NSFW was brought up as an "also".

If the filter allowed for a variety of categorization, including Genre filtering, I think this would be used by a fair number of customers. For instance, there are those who simply will not purchase FPS games: those games either aren't their thing or they have motion / vision difficulties that make them a no-go. So for them, why not a filter that makes it easier to take out the products they KNOW they will not buy?

The odds of me buying VNs is exceedingly small, so how about a filter for that?

PokeyMinch isn't the first person to ask for something like this, but people got focused on the NSFW part of it. Take that out and he's simply asking for catalog filters to make it easier to sort the wheat of their gaming tastes from the chaff.

Edit:

A whole bunch of Wishlist requests for this type of catalog feature: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site#search=filter

Add to that the ability to hide soundtracks and DLCs. You end up seeing way less unique titles when every new release has a special edition and a soundtrack/DLC.

The keywords here are "advertise" and "new releases".

As for the rest of your post, it's logically incoherent. To decide to not visit a game card, I have to know what the game is about, and once I do know, I can't dismiss it -- the ad keeps reappearing over and over. I'm not omgwtftraumatized by the sight of a vagina, but I don't want to see ads for it ("hey, wanna see a vagina? click here!") either. The cross-industrial monetization model shakeup has been happening for years now because people don't want to see ads. It's not a new concept. Ads for Evony were notorious for their tastelessness, but they didn't have vags on them, and the game itself didn't even have tits. When you show a graphic for the game over and over, it might very well be such an unwanted ad (or the customer might not have time or money, but you won't know which without an Ignore option).

Steam's system is good for Steam. They have a recommender, usertag-based custom filtering, and a blocker over potentially disturbing stuff (probably based on official game ratings) that you can keep clicking through each time or dismiss forever. Now, GOG doesn't have user tags and doesn't need them at this point. But an anti-wishlist is a cheap and easy solution. You don't need to mark certain categories of games as potentially undesirable, you're not beholden to the community content you have no control over, no game would be erroneously autoignored on the basis of a potentially overreaching categorizarion, and you get to use the page's real estate to advertise a game a customer might actually buy.

They say the content is all SFW but I know there is one recent addition where the cover is literally two lesbian girls about to kiss each other, and knowing how twisted these developers are I wouldnt be surprised if it was a mother and her daughter. This is not the kind of imagery I want to browse through.

What does their being lesbians have to do with it?
Would it be better if it were a girl and a boy?

I have a million other questions but I'll leave it with these two for now. :D

How is that different from a cover where exactly one of them is a guy? If it were a guy and a girl about to kiss each other, would you have the same problem?

tinyE: what's a DM?
Dungeon Master: The Game Master of a game of Dungeons & Dragons, who controls everything except for the player characters (PC). There's also an (unrelated) computer game called Dungeon Master.

Does that help? (Or maybe it doesn't?)
