So I just noticed that if i select the "Gift this order" at checkout the game becomes more expensive for some reason. What's even more interessting is that it is not always the case. Some games get more expensive others dont. Witcher 3 or Wasteland 2 for example are more expensive as a gift while Divinity original sin 2 is not, why?
high rated
Because GOG implemented regional pricing and a gift is not region restricted.
Regional pricing. Some games are cheaper for your region.
Oh, that sucks. But I guess it makes sense. Thanks.
Wow, wow, wow. Hold on. And what if that person to which goes the gift lives in same region as i am, why the hell must i pay more money then? And why i can send gift only on email, but not directly to friend from my friends list?

Hey bro! Here's 300 bukazoids for you. Buy this game on GOG. It's a gift. I can't buy it myself and gift it to you because they ask 900 bukazoids that way. Capitalist pigs!

Shame... At least you don't always pay the more expensive price. People in Australia and other places seem to always get hosed due to VAT, and here I pay the "base price" regardless of release. For me, not such a problem. For my friends with considerably less income... Huge problem. But hey, you're going to cry about being poor now and can't afford games at the market value, right?
WTF is a "bukazoid"?

No. It's just makes no sense when i can buy game for one price, and my friend, who lives next door also can. But suddenly, when i want gift him this game - it asks double or tripple that price. It's just makes no sense.

The problem is they don't know that you don't want to pay the $2.00 for a $18.00 game due to your region and give it to someone in a region where they still pay the $18.00. Just pay the market value for it instead of complaining that you don't get your regional discount. It's a gift, and that's the gift policy.

The problem would be that they don't know who you want to give the game to at the time you buy it. So, say you live somewhere games are incredibly cheap, and I live in Western Europe. Your base price is $3 and mine is $20. Say I want this game. If I buy it myself, it's $20. However, what will end up happening is that I offer you $5 to gift me the game.

You pay GoG $3.
I pay you $5.
You make $2 profit, but GoG loses $17 on the sale ($20 - $3)

It's an extreme example, but unless you region lock the gifting (i.e. you can only gift to your own region), the only option is to charge the maximum for a gift copy. To be honest, just look at it as you getting a good deal on buying things for yourself.

It's true when sending gifts to an email like now. But why I can't choose friend from my friends list? That way they see my account and account that gift goes to. Both accounts from same region? Regional price. Regions differ? Maximum price, or higher price of one of that regions.

But the real problem is that regional pricing is unfair and discriminatory and should not exist. The problem you mentioned is just a sub-problem of that main one.

The OP & others are absolutely right to complain about it. Regional pricing should be abolished, and so should lootbox gambling sales, and all other unethical things in which GOG participates.
