Ancient-Red-Dragon: This thread title is a loaded question.
You can't assume that people "love gog" just because they buy games from GOG.
And GOG certainly does not have a "pro consumer" stance. Maybe they did at one time many years ago, but they definitely don't now.

In GOG I like:

- convenient offline installers that makes archiving my GOG games easy so that I can play them 20 years from now after the apocalypse when the rest of you are DEAD! D-E-D DEAD!

- gogrepo.py

- officially DRM-free (which is why we CAN at least raise questions like "why is does this single-player content on this and this game require you to go online with the Galaxy client?", which is not we could do in e.g. Epic or Steam. (Maybe that is more related to the question of whether Galaxy is really optional or not, than strictly whether it is DRM or not. Maybe.)

- Some classic old games that are not available elsewhere.
I don't "love" any store, but I still like GOG for its DRM-free games (at least for their single-player), even if less than in the past.
- Drm free
- I enjoy most of their releases
- I don't have to use Galaxy
- Good sales on a regular basis

I just don't have anything to complain about I guess.
At this point I buy almost exclusively DRM free from GOG, so...

I appreciate GOG's catalog... and I appreciate that they seemingly read the boards for ideas on what games to acquire (I've seen many games mentioned in threads and then 4 - 6 mos later showing up).

Unlike some -- and I'm not making a value judgement here -- I never had the feeling that GOG was anything more than a company that found a niche -- relatively old, "cheap" games (to acquire for sale) -- to exploit as best they could; GOG is a business and not an altruistic organization or charity... but then I am old and don't trust anything easily. Do I dislike some of their shenanigans? Certainly...

... but...

... so far IMHO they are quite a bit better than most of the other digital storefronts.

And I do get the distinct feeling from a few interactions that many at GOG actually play the games they are selling. That means something.
high rated
Do I love GOG? Hardly. They've always been nothing more than a business to me. Displaying blind loyalty towards a company (or anything or anyone for that matter) is nothing but reckless and dumb.

The better question: Do I appreciate their existence? That would be a solid yes. If it hadn't been for GOG I may not even have returned to PC gaming after not really bothering much with such for almost a decade. I came for the old favorites and stayed for the DRM-free. Installation limits, online checks, constant internet connection, etc are what made me very wary where gaming was (and in many ways still is) headed.

I'm not terribly concerned about missing out on trivial fluff like (often out-of-place-looking) skins that aren't unlike the ubiquitous pre-order garbage packs I never use anyway. That said, should the day come games here require me to sign in in any form to actually play them I'll be reconsidering my stance on whether to continue using GOG as my main PC games supplier.
I don't. I used to, when CDP was still made of humans daring to walk among us rather than coroprate gods.
Now I buy here only for the DRM-free (relatively) reliable installers, but I already had to avoid some games because they are not actually 100% DRM-free.
To be completely honest, I'm very, very close to just leave this place and never spend a cent again, but then the alternatives are either way worse (Steam, Epic) or with a not great selection of games on offer.

Orkhepaj: unionize ?:O
why should they start hiring outside poland?
Unionize to get better employment benefits as to become a better workplace (They're completely pathetic, even to an ex-employee) so people would actually be interested in working, or hire externally so they don't have to deal with how terrible a prospect Poland is for most IT.

exorio: DRM free

Also support is a bit better than Steam's

This might come as a surprise at you, but in my experience EA's Origin support is the best

Response time is better on GOG than on Steam

Origin is instant (live chat)

Origin support seems to be outsourced to India though

Orkhepaj: I've only got experience with Ubisoft, it is live chat and they fixed my problem within an hour(not everyday problem), so I would rate them as excellent
Yeah these two multibillion corporations actually treat their customers better (apart from DRM and microtransactions practice)

An interview somewhere I watch they actually treat their employees better too.

But nevertheless in Ubisoft's case, based of what I read they're the worst DRM offender, starting with AC2 IIRC but I never liked AC series anyway so I don't really know

Origin, I was refunded in instant couple of times

This.

You have to admit though

"100% of your money goes to CD PROJEKT GROUP"

only GOG dares to throw a joke like this, and that gender tweet that caused some stir back then

That's quite witty I have to say, projecting an image that they're not taking themselves too seriously unlike other multibillion dollar companies

When GOG transform into another EA, that's the time to look for another store.

But currently I'm happy with their DRM free policy, even though they seem to break their own policy slowly with Galaxy only multiplayer.

Just hoping that other companies/studios will follow suit, realizing that DRM only hurt the legit buyers, and does not prevent piracy at all.

Yea. EA help has a cool UI and launcher too (they could have been a respectable company if....pay $10 to find out why). Ubisoft is good with their support as well.

I don't LOVE GOG I LIKE GOG. No one is supposed to LOVE a company we LOVE PEOPLE. Anyway, I like them because of DRM free promise (apparently been broken) and, of course, the wonderful, wonderful community.

I stopped "loving" GOG since they went from Good Old Games to GOG. I stopped "loving" when they shitted on search engine and basiclly made really hard to find Good Old Games. Those games are burried under indy and "DRM" (i am looking at you Epic Games) free games. Also MaGog is going away, so there is that. Sadly, i cannot trust GOG and CDPR anymore with "curration" of games.

Is not FCK DRM ... its FCK GOG.
What I like offline installers.
What i dont like pretty much everything else this old crappy forum, moderation, write only mode from gog staff, pushing twitter and such, yet cant even finish a giveaway.

They didnt break it they are just expanding their vision that you just have to use one launcher on pc their own games will always be drm free and for epic games you need an epic account
