Doing what? watching them without worship? I do and probably most of the people on the world. The only ones that might worship them are kids like all of us when we were young with an actor, singer, football player ... If youtube was here earlier, you might be one of those kids. Who knows what will be popular in 20 or 30 years and people will also say '' i don't understand why people worship those who do whatever will be popular in those years''

You know you're getting old when you start criticizing reasonable things young people like that you don't fully understand. Taste in music, shows, games, lifestyle choices, etc. Just a natural part of life that adultitis is.

Hmmm to note i would give no human any worship of mine, unless they can somehow supply me with the magic numbers to win the lottery.

Now i would give respect and to a degree leeway based on what they say on if they have been proven to me to be at least honest or useful. And in cases i would give a larger bias to the ones that i watch more than the ones that i don't. Example, i watched a number of TB videos and found him to be fairly honest and looking at the technical aspects as well as overall impressions of a game so i didn't feel like he was selling me something because he had some back door deal to make it look like he actually enjoyed something he didn't.

Now there are channels and those i listen to (usually entertainment) but i wouldn't as of now swear loyalty to anyone blindly on YT at all.

I didn't criticizing them, on the contrary i said it's normal for peoples to like them (worshiping is a bit too much when you are adult like any other personality not only youtubers) Things change, and like any other new media ''old'' peoples don't like the new thing it happen to the cinema, the tv shows, the games,... So yes it's totaly normal to like (and not worshiping like some said) content from youtubers, yes i know there is some immature channel made only for the worship but there is also a lot of good channel with normal content.

Bud, I'm not starting a fight this time. Just adding to the conversation.
I've found that worshipping youtbers is something done mostly by younger audiences and that most people grow out of it when the become more intellectually mature. Beyond that, I also think there's a need in the human psyche to hold some people as morally pure / infallible and that youtubers fulfill that need for many people.

On the scale of absurd fandom, youtubers and their fans are relatively tame compared to celebrity worshippers, sports fans, political cults of personality, musician / band ''stans'' and full blown cults.

Are you saying you've never had that happen before? No boomer or Xer ever complained about "kids these days" and talking fondly about the old days? The days where they had to remember phone numbers, spend a whole weekend at the library to borrow books and do research, saying 60s-80s music was better than what we have today, etc. and chastising on how entitled, narcissistic, lazy, spoiled, and less respectful everyone is today?

It's all nostalgia or false memory bias. I cannot tell you how often older people vented to me about this stuff during volunteering and work. Honestly, just old, impatient people frustrated with their aging lives pining for their fleeting youth that they'll never get back, so they take it out on innocent young people all around them. Though they conveniently ignore how much better technology, internet, and streamlining of outdated practices has made our lives better and more efficient for those who know how to use those tools well.
