Surely others have noticed that while every game or series has it's own community forum, and also its own store page to buy the game, there's no button on the store page to take you straight to the forum for that title.

Does that seem strange to you guys? It's an obvious feature to include on the store pages for games, surely?

It's baffled me for years.

Maybe they were afraid the relatively low activity in those forums would lead to less sales, or perhaps they thought it might lead to them eventually having to actually moderate the forums.

The forums here in general are neglected and suffer weird functionality so I'm not really surprised they don't make them more obvious on the store pages, no.
They just dont want people figuring out how dead the game sub forums are , seriously some dont have posts since years.

or they might do it when new forum ever comes out.
No, I kinda forgot about that since I use Barefoot Essentials.

But it was always the case even when the forums weren't barren wasteland and were pleasant place to hang out.

My theory always was that sub-forums always were place where people asked about their technical difficulties and GOG didn't want people to head there directly and think those games are full of problems as those problems could be in fact tiny minority or even when the game really was problematic..

What's stranger is that the forum url is part of the game data so it is accessible.

That's how software like Barefoot and third party websites like GoG database get the URL.

That's the sense I get too.

Yep. I asked a question in a game forum the last big sale and pretty much no one responded. They might as well just cut it all down to the general forum at this point.
I did not know there was a games forum until just now when I read this thread. They need to put links in the game pages so everyone can start using these forums.
OK is it just me or have the links reverted back to taking people to the main community forum instead of the game specific one? Just what the hell is going on at GOG lately?

I tried a few storepages (Cyberpunk, Diablo and Heroes III) and they all take me to the game-specific forums. I assume you tried one of those games that haven't had their forum links set up properly.

Just you and some other GOG users as well having this issue. In my case links work any game I tried so far. This issue was introduced since GOG implemented new filtering options. In case you're going to create a ticket to tech. support please let us know here or on a new thread. Thank you.

P.S. Please note that you *necroed* a completely unrelated topic, and you probably should know better since you created it in the first place..
