I have enjoyed the broken narrative, the way the story is retold giving a deeper understanding of things. As paladin181 notes, it's not always clear in which year the narration is set in a given scene, so some attention is asked to the audience. I think that it might be confusing at first but putting the pieces of the puzzle together might feel rewarding. I have liked the funny, light moments, it made me even think of Buffy sometimes. There is a b-movie overtone throughout the series, and I don't mind that at all. The worst is the cast, most actors are bad and inexpressive, even those with bigger roles. Cahir at least provides a "good" bad guy.
It starts very slow but builds up nicely. It's no masterwork but it fills a void for sure and I will be happy to watch more!

StingingVelvet: Thought it had a bit of a b-movie vibe to it, but not bad.
YES! I found it sometimes over the top like the first Star Trek series. The bad acting helps.

Finished the series as well. Having read the books and played the games i would rate it an 8/10. Decent series but lacking in some parts. Totally can agree that the time jumps will be quite confusing for people unfamilar with the Witcher lore.

jepsen1977: Mainstream journos hate The Witcher TV show for the same reason that game journos hate The Witcher series of games - they don't conform to the woke views of these "journos" or pundits.

Acriz: That makes absolutly no sense. The show was already - in a typical for Netflix way - "diversified", with quite a few race swaps and even the Dryads are all black. If any, this is exactly what the journos wanted, when they complained about The Witcher 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Of course it doesn't. It's modern journalists we are talking about. And for "woke" people nothing would be enough. I've seen articles with complains about Black Panther being "not clear enough about white people fault" with my own eyes.
Considering the amount that some people here dislke "poltics" in entertainment media, it's funny who those same people bring up politics why this is good, politics why the other one is bad, politics why Witcher critical ratings are bad, politics why Star Wars audience ratings are good...

I thought it was ok. Provided me with a weekend's worth of entertainment, but I'd be hard-pressed to remember any finer details now. Then again, I'm not a Witcher super-fan by any stretch.

The time-jump thing felt like to me a badly implemented attempt at a Westworld style "Aha!" revelation. There was a moment where I think it was supposed to become obvious that there were two timelines being alternated, but instead of "Aha!" it resulted in more of a "Oh. So that is what that was. I see. They could have made it clearer."

paladin181: ... so I'm not completely put off by the diversity choices, but turning Triss into a black woman would hurt the original narrative less than Frangilla.
I see they made yet another redhead/ginger into a black character....I am not against such, in general, but I find it odd they keep doing that....what, do they dislike redheads and gingers or think they won't appeal to people? o.0

The term "beat like a red-headed stepchild" is a thing.

True, but over the past 5 years or so its become a quasi literal reality in media. :|
