I often see the advertisement for Arma II when installing gog games. Now that they hooked me up on it, I can´t buy it, because gog removed it from the catalogue. That´s cruel, man, so cruel. Any ideas where to get it drm-free?
Forget it or take the medicine (Steam). The developers love Steam.

I'm not even sure if there is a DRM FREE version anymore but have you checked the humble bundle store?

I could do that, but unfortunately my money has it´s own kind of drm. Therefore Steam will never have the pleasure of getting it :)

I checked everything with no success. So my last hope was to ask the forum.

Did you look at the developers' website? https://www.bohemia.net
Steam or an older retail version. Those are your legal and realistic choices for Arma 2.

Yes, but all versions need a steam account.

It´s okay. I have plenty of other games to play.

More accurately, the devs pulled it because they want the game to be Steam exclusive.
I really don't get why devs put out a DRM free version of the game, then remove it..

When Gamespy shut down the devs replaced it with Steamworks, which is why these games were removed from sale here.

Also there's this thread I linked to a few days ago when we also had this discussion:

Just curious. Is this an older installer for a game you're reinstalling? I ask because I haven't seen an adverts for the game in my installer.

I had though they were live adverts from the website, like from some sort of RSS feed.

Can you imagine the way people would have lost their shit if that was the case? People would definitely have complained about their "so called offline!" installers connecting to the internet to display adverts, even if a lack of connection did nothing to prevent the game installing.

It feels like every second installer has this advertisement. My installers are all up to date, and the last game I installed and that showed the ad was Wasteland 2 DC.
The Pirate Bay.
