xxxIndyxxx: Yeah my mind is still blown about that one, maybe they meant may 2014 ;)

Ewu: Weren't the Wizardry games released during "Mindblowing May"?
Pretty "mindblowing" in my book, one of my favourite GOG releases of all time. :)
Agreed. Best releases on GOG along with System Shock 2 and the original Interplay batch in my opinion, with I Have A Mouth Hence I Must Sue close behind and Chaos Overlords as personal underdog favourite.

Not to mention that japanese companies are notoriously uninterested in PC, so licensing the Wizardries from them was quite a feat I think.

Stooner: Would be pretty good if they were talking about this...
Yup, looks pretty good.

xxxIndyxxx: Sure that was a good release but shouldn't every month have at least one of those. If that is mindblowing than we wouldn't have survived the first few years...
To be fair I think TET said 'Our line up for this month blows my mind' - he didn't say anything about anyone else's mind being blown - subjective reality and differing tastes!

So much this. Anyone claiming that May wasn't "mindblowing" should rot in hell. :p
Discworld series .

Oh well, mindblowability simply isn't exactly the most objective scale, I guess. Off the top of my head I can't really think of a release that would make me as excited as the Wizardry games did. So a release like that every month would be hard to achieve (for me).

ne_zavarj: Discworld series .
Discworld 1 and 2 run in SCUMMVM so assuming the rights can be obtained from whoever now holds them it'd be trivial to release but Discworld Noir is a pain to get running... fantastic game though.

JudasIscariot: That would be telling a .... secret :D
Y'know, occasionally, just occasionally, it would be nice to have something to look forward to on this site, instead of the usual bland "I guess nothing interesting will happen, as usual". I am aware that you really are massively committed to not telling your customers anything you are planning whatsoever, but it would be nice if you could say something definite every once in a while, even if it is just "something will happen on Thursday".

Surprises are nice and all, but not everything absolutely has to be a surprise.
My guess: They will have no new releases this week but Wednesday they will announce the release date for Cyberpunk and open up preorders on GOG.
Yeah ... it's been way too long since the last release. It's almost been a month since Teslagrad, and much longer since the last classic release, and there are still quite a few classics missing from GOG.

On the other hand, I like this approach much better than overhyping things. GOG used to have a real problem with trumpeting stuff far and wide that wasn't that awesome.

Yeah, I guess the people who didn't appreciate the Wizardry and System Shock 2 releases don't know about just how screwed up the rights for those had been, those were games I considered near impossible to ever get released here.
That did get my hopes up that we'd get reacquainted with the Dune series and Forsaken again though, which may be too much to hope.

No need to hype anything. Just tell us something. You know that "New & Coming" tab on the front page? It'd be nice if there were actually any games in there in the "coming" category once in a while.

Maybe a solution would be not trumpeting everything, not making everything a surprise, maybe announcing a bit in advance a part of what is to come (especially in the case of new-ish releases) and keeping the classics & partnership as surprises ?
Especially for the people who are time and again protesting that they'd "have waited and not bought on Steam if only they knew it would come to GOG". I don't care, I almost only play older games as my machine is antiquated, but other people might.

Maybe. But since I've never yet seen the GOG marketing team operate in a measured way I'd rather they go overboard on the secrecy than go overboard on the hype.

This isn't the best of all marketing strategies, it's just the best of the ones that GOG has been able to pull off.
