WTF?!?! Today is Tuesday?!?!?
avatar
BadDecissions: I think they should go ahead and release Ultima 9 now; the people who want it can buy it, and the people who don't can whine for 10 pages about how a game store released a game they don't like, they are so put upon, and we can get the whole ridiculous thing over with.
There's actually a decent number of people who didn't like Ultima IX. And by "decent", I mean "a lot". It was kind of a bad game. I think people have some right to be annoyed, if they check in to see what the new game on Tuesday and Thursday is, and they turn out to be "indie game seven people asked for that everybody else already has" and "One of the most disappointing and universally panned CRPG's ever made, that was so poor that it made it's universally panned predecessor look brilliant".

I think the only way they could troll harder is if they hint at a Telltale Games week and it turns out to be a Tale of Tales week. ¬_¬

Licurg: WTF?!?! Today is Tuesday?!?!?
It's gotta be Monday, else something would have happened by now.

Edit: Dang, I got it! Today was supposed to be the first game they were gonna release via time travel (as mentioned on the wishlist)! OF COURSE something went wrong.

Simply yes. Today is Tuesday.

makr3la: Simply yes. Today is Tuesday.
Then why does it feel like Monday?

SimonG: Am I the only one who has lost any feeling of anticipation of excitement towards the "release days"?

Sometimes it feels like just the habit is keeping me here ...

grinninglich: Yes only you . For a lot of people there is only GOG.com for buying games. So it doesn't matter it released anywhere else.
Well, there's also the sense of commune-ity here on the forum, and release days are like gathering around the (medicinal) marijuana pipe and chilling out to some crunchy tunes.

I have that feeling until Friday.

When it was released, I remember having been hugely disappointed by Ultima IX. It was unfinished, buggy, and too demanding for a computer of this time. A few years later, I got an enhanced and fixed edition of the game, as a bonus with a special edition of Ultima Online. The game had been improved and was know running smoothly on a more recent computer. Ultima IX had become quite enjoyable, if not perfect. Perhaps would it be hasty to judge a GOG release of Ultima IX on a first release experience, knowing that it has been reworked afterwards.

That is exactly the reason why I want to play it!

Never said I wasn't personally interested in it and wasn't going to get it. I already have Ultima VIII, Might and Magic IX, and hell, even Forsaken Gods, and I'm the sort of masochist who wants to revisit Ultima IX. Not until it's about $3 or so, mind you. Doesn't keep it from being a disappointing release, though.

I'm sure there's been some improvements made to it, but there's only so much you can do for a fundamentally horrible game like that. You'd pretty much have to toss out the entire world and the story, and it stops being Ultima IX at that point. Not that that's a bad thing, of course.

Quite :)

Eww. Can't you do that in a GameRager topic or something?

I thought I was the only one who finds GOG conducive to peristalsis.
