SimonG: Am I the only one who has lost any feeling of anticipation of excitement towards the "release days"?

Sometimes it feels like just the habit is keeping me here ...
It is. There's minimal reason to be excited. I'm just here because it'll be something amazing on the day I don't bother to check in, and it'll be 90% off for the first hour, just to spite me. It won't be "just paranoia" when it actually happens. ¬_¬

I have the gut feeling that today's release will be "particularly disappointing". Hopefully it'll be just "uninteresting", but hopefully I'm completely wrong altogether and we get something that actually has some votes on the wishlist.

It is not a question of faith or quality - it is a question of taste. Unless you enjoy every game you are bound to be disappointed by some releases. You know that some day there will be a good release.
And anyway, some come to fetch gifts code of new releases users post in the comment section
Carmageddon? Ultima 9?
Well, we'll get Ultima IX on Thursday (not that I'm looking forward to that), so its possible that we'll get a special treat today to soften the blow.
Maybe today's game is about ninjas...

Well, a year ago I was anticipating every release day. Even though I didn't like some of the games. But back then it was something special. But nowadays it feels like there is a 80% of a game already released elsewhere. (And 60% chance of that game already been in a bundle. And a 30% chance of it already been in two bundles...).

If I am any indication, than GOG is loosing a lot of its "special status" it created over the last few years.

Me at the moment. 4 years of bed-ridden illness, and I'm kind of all gamed out at moment...massive backlog, and no will to even start playing anything :(

That's not to say I don't check the releases though. There's a few I'ma instabuy the minute they're released ^_^

SLP2000: Carmageddon? Ultima 9?
Carmageddon'd be nice. They've been busy with that for months. Would be cool to finally get it out there.
I'm still looking forward to the releases, even if it is a game I have already, like Conquest: Frontier Wars. I might even buy it, for being a CD-less and DRM-less release with semi-guaranteed compatibility with Win7.

Naturally they can't always please everyone, in which case cry me a river. Some people cried foul for GOG releasing e.g. Riddick here (it was available elsewhere too, with DRM), but as far as I can tell it sold pretty nicely in GOG.

Talk for yourself. I've never played Ultima IX and it is one of the most controversial games I haven't played.
THere's a slight technical hiccup with today's release. We'll either fix it, or else issue one of Thursday's releases in a few hours. Stay tuned, and apologies.

+1
Now it's better call it GIG
Another theory: today's release is so awesome that the servers started playing it themselves and forgot to publish it on the frontpage.

Yay for taking a stand for quality!

i feel exactly the same way. within just a few months (6 or so...) GOG has lost most of its momentum as far as i'm concerned. they were on an impressive roll last year, and the year before, but now it's all boring releases and 'been there, bought that' promos.

i'd love for GOG to pull something like the introduction of EA again. remember that? that was when GOG was at its best.
