Duffadash: Gentlemen! Gentlemen!
The old Magic: the Gathering Game by Microprose (later merged into infogrames and then Atari/Hasbro) is hard to get to work on newer systems. Give them time! I'll gladly wait if it means I get my baby back... ^-^
And Hasbro hold the Magic: the Gathering IP as well as the rights to the game. Interesting...

Old but brisk MtG could be ours once again? That's sweet'n'spicy! :)

But in case of games like these the owner of the master license (in this case Wizards of the Coasts) also have something to say, doesn't he? It is just my prediction, I am not aware of such detailed nuances of game developing, but maybe someone here overrule me on that field :)

Hasbro own WotC. Hence why their say on the distribution of D&D games is final. Edit: to clarify, that would most likely be the same situation with MtG. Especially seeing as there's a strong possibility that they own the actual game too.

There are only one thing that can really stand in the way. Microprose games were scattered all over the place. One company tried to hold onto most, but I don't think they succeeded. I really don't know for sure where the rights for the actual game are now.

According to http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/magic-the-gathering)
In the beginning of 1998 the second expansion to the game; Duels of the planeswalkers was released. (http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/magic-the-gathering-duels-of-the-planeswalkers)
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microprose Microprose were bought by Hasbro Interactive in late 1998.
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infogrames, Infogrames took over Hasbro Inteactive in 2001, this is when Microprose stopped existing. Later that year Infogrames created the Atari group.
In 2005 Atari sold many of Hasbro's digital rights back to them (although not D&D).
In 2008 Atari was bought out, and re-emerged into Infogrames.
In 2009 Namco Bandai acquired Atari Europe from Infogrames. Later that year Infogrames finally changed name to Atari.

Also an interesting tidbit:
"In summer 2007[citation needed] Interactive Game Group acquired the MicroProse brand from Atari Interactive, Inc, which filed for transfer of trademark protection on December 27, 2007.[8] Interactive Game Group then shared a percentage of the MicroProse brand to I-Drs At in January 2008.[9][10] Claims as to what titles and other intellectual properties were also acquired by the Interactive Game Group from Infogrames remain unverified, and the last verified owner of Microprose properties is Infogrames.[11]"

I hope you found this interesting...

But it's not blue.
Well fine, I bought a game off Gamersgate instead. GOG better be careful, Gamersgate is rapidly catching up with them as the go-to place for good old games dirt-cheap, modified for modern systems, and DRM-free. Besides the huge amount of overlap between their catalog and GOG's they've already scooped you with a modern-patched Aliens vs. Predator Gold, Majesty Gold, and Sim City 4 Deluxe, and more, all DRM-free.

I figured out that the outage was a retarded PR stunt from day 1. What really pissed me off was that it would delay the re-release of Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic for weeks. Now that's looking like months. You better hope Gamersgate doesn't get the license rights before you finally get around to releasing it.
While I'd enjoy IWD or IWD2, I'm hoping for BG2 now most of all. I need the other half of the saga to complete my quest. :p
Didn't Gog say they were spreading the Atari-Hasbro releases out until Christmas?

That hardly seems likely.

GOG has reigned in their "coming soon" announcements after unexpected delays saw some titles sitting on the list for months, and they knew very well when they announced Age of Wonders that the Hasbro releases were imminent. I expect that the remaining Hasbro titles will be staggered with other releases over the coming months. If they don't release one of the Age of Wonders games next week (probably AoW 2), I'll be a bit surprised.
