The language used to be encoded as part of the game version. for most games I've updated lately (not sure how long, probably a few weeks), the language is now encoded in the game name. This alters the default install directory, which is annoying enough, but it also causes all the DLCs to complain that they're being installed for the wrong game (although they seem to work anyway).
In short: thanks, gog for disrupting my install procedure for the worse, for no apparent reason and with the usual level of breakage. You don't even test your own Linux installers after making a major change like that.
I suppose this latest breakage may have already been reported in some other thread I don't bother reading any more. Given that it's still broken, and getting worse every time one of my games updates, I don't care.
