With Black Friday having become such a big thing in physical retail, some major online stores (like Amazon) some years back took the opportunity to proclaim the following Monday to be the big online shopping day -- hence Cyber Monday.
Of course, with the degree to which online shopping has overtaken shopping in physical stores, Black Friday sales took over Internet retail as well, and now it all kind of just bleeds together.
