I guess my main problem with GOG Galaxy 2.0 is that despite the program does link your GOG library with other online gaming platforms like Steam, the fact that it prompts to you the login screen to those other platforms makes the whole feature kind of redundant in my opinion. But then again, maybe it was just me misunderstanding what GOG's marketing team had initially promised in regards to what's to come in GOG Galaxy 2.0, specifically about this feature that I'm talking about. I still think it would be a lot more convenient if you don't have to login to those other gaming platforms though (maybe it's pretty much impossible at this point, but idk).

tfishell: GOG should close their business so every cranky old man on this forum will finally be happy.

timppu: Would you have been fine with the Hitman release, as long as GOG would have simply cut all the DRM'ed content out of the game, and released the rest? Just like they've done before with those games which had e.g. Steam DRM multiplayer?
Good question. I would have certainly preferred that to the way it did release. I wouldn't have left a negative review discussing the design of the game. I would not be entirely satisfied as I think it is anti-consumer for content to be hidden behind online requirements, but it would not have compromised the integrity of the store. Honestly, releasing the game with the DRMed content totally off the table so that the GOG release was 100% DRM-free would have increased my trust in GOG since it would indicate that they actually care about DRM-free gaming.

timppu: I didn't buy Hitman because it apparently (if I understood right) had single-player content, that I would have cared for, behind DRM. But it is not my duty or even right to say whether GOG should be allowed to sell such a game in the store, my only right is either to buy or not buy such a game. I chose the latter.
No one is talking rights and duties. Obviously they can do what they want with their store. I am just saying what is logically consistent and coherent from a brand perspective. To the prospective customer, "this store is 100% DRM-free, no content is locked behind online or client requirements" is a coherent statement. Contrast "this store is DRM-free, well except for this one case, oh and this other one, and well GWENT is free to play so it's not DRM-free but it's okay since it's free to play, etc etc."

isnt that how linux "developed"?

Personally, I am not spending a cent here untill GOG makes it completely clear whether they intend to develop galaxy further or leave it in its current unfinished state. Galaxy was half of what drew me to GOG. So if they drop Galaxy, they will lose at least one buyer.

I like Galaxy 2.0 way more than 1.X...so that's why they should keep going!

You somehow, found a thread, from nearly a year ago, and decided to astroturf a little?

Very unsuspicious. :|
Our Galaxy contains a massive Black Hole! Should we patch it? or point to the inevitable end... There will be an end to this World one day, but it will be a night for some of you! Connections trembles, too much steamlike substance trying to rip apart our engine, people in panic downloading streams of other players, clocks starting to go sides, achievements topped up to 100% on their own, sometimes you can hear the voice "I made it! I finished a game" and then grave silence... There is hope... little Christmas Star... I will follow it and see where it's led me...

I like our Galaxy and all of its missing functions like (profile, offline achievements, total multiplayer, video voice conference gaming, cloud for games, playlists! and right time tracking : )

However, it can fix a game, change its exe, save saves, manage downloads and catalogs, update games, in games(number of) chat, and it feels like a real thing.

Before 2018 I was pirate-savvy! Galaxy hasn't helped this. G-Oh-Joe
did!

Imagine not realizing that a launcher can be 100% optional for people who enjoy ease of organization and patching lol...

+ that person must not care about achievements in the user profile.

But let's be honest and say 98%. Some games require the galaxy network for multiplayer and at least one requires it for saving preferences (that's some lousy programming, but it is what it is).

I'm sorry...I didn't realise it! LOL
At the very least I think Galaxy is convenient way of streamlining the downloading of backup installers, so I'm for it.
