Even a point of no return that isn't a surprise can be bad. For example, in the original SaGa 3 (Final Fantasy Legend 3), around the midpoint of the game, there is a point where you have to travel into an alternate dimension (Pureland in the FFL3 translation), and once you do that, you can *never* go back. This means that any items that you didn't find before then, or store equipment you didn't buy before that point, or spells, can *never* be obtained later if you don't already have them. This issue is enough to make me sometimes not continue playing the game. (There's also the fact that you can't return to Floatland after clearing it.)

The DS remake mitigated this problem; you eventually get to return to the main world after you reach Talonberg. So, you're still stuck there for a while, but at least eventually get to return to get things you missed (and I believe this is required to get the new ending they added). (Also, it's now possible to revisit Floatland after clearing it.) Incidentally, if this game were to get another remake, one that is more faithful to the original (rather than the complete remodeling, including the removal of the level/XP system and the rework of how different races work), this is one of two features from the DS version that I would like to see ported over (the other being the ability to store items).

Interestingly enough, I have had a similar issue with Final Fantasy 6, where a certain event occurs that's functionally equivalent to an early (as in, half way or so) point of no return.

It doesn't help one's case and just ends the conversation before it begins. If one wants to make their case they should be as civil as possible while also being critical of things they see as wrong or in need of change.

Not to me(or not as much). If I know such is coming it's loads better than not as I can prepare for such ahead of time.

Also: There are bad things in life......people need to learn to live with such and be happy with what they have. Just my two cents.

I respond on MY schedule. I'm not here very often as this is the sort of immature behavior I typically encounter. It's not exactly motivating to bother to spend my time conversing with people with such histrionic reactions to anything outside their realm of experience.

Also, I don't think it needs illustration to be considered a "high price", that obviously comes down to means & goals. What it does however indicate is someone's insecurity about OTHER PEOPLE'S ability to do a thing aka jealousy, which is pointless & silly. First, the first reply wasn't so bad...though yes the later ones were a bit rude.

Also you don't NEED to reply to anything here or anywhere online short of bill payment emails/etc. This may sound a bit rude but its' the truth for everyone.

1st bit: If it is preventable then do what you can to prevent it. If it is unpreventable and you cannot stop or prevent it do your best to limit the bad it does(if it affects yourself or those you know/care about) and not worry so much about the stuff you cannot change or impact.

Basically I am saying stress is bad and we shouldn't make more of it by adding things to worry or obsess over in life(I have experience with this...having bad OCD and all).

2nd bit: Then(and this is going to sound rude, but I believe in honesty over mincing words all the time just to be overly nice) you need to work on being able to handle such better if such makes you quit a game so easily, or(as you likely do) find other games that don't do that sort of thing.

Badly made checkpoint only save systems. Typical example would be Doom 2016.

Autoheal. You should always have to do something to regain health, not just hide for 5 seconds and continue on like nothing happened. This is the single reason why Mass Effect 2 has mind-numbingly boring gameplay.

Ammo over-saturation. In 90% of FPS games, I am literally drowning in it the entire time. I have to actively try to run out of ammo for a single weapon. Why even have ammo in the game when you never have to manage it?

Fragile enemies and headshot focus. When every enemy succumbs to 1-2 headshots max, the game quickly becomes boring. Old Doom did this the best. Some enemies are extremely fragile and die in 2 pistol shots, some are extremely tough and take 5+ rockets. Duke 3D is on the other side of the spectrum. The vast majority of enemies in the game just die to 1-2 shotgun shots and this remains throughout all the episodes....

Fragile buildings in RTS games. Typical example would be Starcraft or Age of Mythology. Buildings are just irrelevant paper that can be steamrolled the moment you get several units on them. Compare that to Battle for Middle Earth or Age of Empires 2 where sieging a castle is a serious ordeal. I vastly prefer that.

Constantly nagging NPCs ceaselessly telling you to do something every 10 seconds and not shutting up until you do so.

Too limited weapon carrying capacity. Using only 2 weapons the entire game just sucks.

Hidden collectibles that improve your character in any way. Then I feel obligated to find them and spend hours doing boring and tedious stuff of having to explore every inch of the map carefully and back-track several times in case I missed something.

Grenade indicators. I should notice the grenade flying/enemy throwing it. I should have awareness, not a huge UI indicator with an arrow and grenade icon blinking red like crazy every time there is a grenade within 1km radius around me.

Unskippable tutorials that treat you like you have the brain capacity of a vegetable.

Overpowered team-mate revival in co-op games. When someone gets downed and you revive him, he should have only a sliver of health and have to retreat and recover in most cases. The reviving process should also take a decent amount of time (I'd say at least 6-7 seconds) since you are bringing a player back into the game, which is huge. Yet in most games I see/try that have this mechanic, the revive takes like 3 seconds tops and people are revived at either full or at half health at best. The player should be punished for getting downed. The fact they are being given another chance by revival is enough. Why they also receive a full heal is beyond me. When being downed is just a faster way to heal, something is wrong.
