Woohoo, I received my new work laptop! And the first thing I want to try out is:
- Can it run GOG games ok (ie. backwards compatibility; it has only Intel HD graphics, no idea how compatible that is with old PC games made back when Intel graphics didn't even exist).
- How much juice does it have for semi-new games, like Far Cry 2 and The Wticher? I originally would have thought "No chance!", but then I was suprised how well e.g. those two games ran in another laptop (which had lower end Geforce chipset).
It is currently installing Win7 on it over the network, still have to wait an hour or so for that to finish.
It is some lower end HP Probook 6xxx, I don't recall the exact model now. But I'm pretty sure it has more power than my current Lenovo ThinkPad T400 I got back in 2008 or so. EDIT: I think it is HP ProBook 6470b, not sure if there are different flavors of that exact model (like with different graphics chipsets, CPUs etc.; at least that was the case with T400, they are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you actually get...).
EDIT2: No backlit keyboard, or a separate keyboard light (like in T400)? Well fsck me... Damn cheapskates. I quite often use the laptop in dimly lit places, so I may have to buy one of those USB lamp accessories then in order to see the damn keyboard.
