xSinghx: Given the rise of the fascist right and its fake populism this should be an easy one for most film buffs. If you haven't seen this - not only should you watch it - you should probably buy a copy for those hopeless friends.

Hints:

-1950s
-Famous American Director that Named Names during the McCarthy witch hunt.
-1st Feature for the Lead Actor (an oscar-worthy performance wildly unlike the parts he's known for)
-Lead Character is based on several real-life personalities
-Is on the National Film Registry in the Library of Congress

Emob78: The Barrack Obama biopic. Oh, I'm sorry. It's 'A Face in the Crowd' with Andy Griffith.

And... this one represents an early attempt at alien invasion... or was it peaceful human exploration?
I should've looked at the pics.... lol.. can see Andy Griffith in that third one.
XD

I LITERALLY WATCHED THAT LAST NIGHT

Forbidden Planet

Telika: Also, fun facts :

The same "company of wolves" picture had already been used in this very thread. So did the "bad lieutenant" picture.

Aaaaah this thread is going in circles !
Sorry... This thread is so big, it's hard to keep track.

Yeah it's no big deal, because the thread is old and most players weren't there for the first occurences of a movie. But I always search for a title in the thread, before posting a movie, just for my own satisfaction.

But repetitions are also sometimes fun, when two people have the same idea and take the almost same screenshot without realising it.

Correct.

Though Obama never sold himself as a populist. He sold himself as a 'change candidate' which in most ways wasn't - not that conservatives are typically informed enough to acknowledge his center-right politics in between foaming at the mouth over accusations of socialism and (at the time) birtherism.

For those that haven't seen A Face In The Crowd (in the US), it will be out on Criterion this April.

It's on TCM all the time.

Okay so just to review, he got that right, and posted, I got that right, and posted.

Now we are waiting on a guess for my pic.

That sound correct?

No, three years after that.
Rabid or The Brood then, although I can't recall any cameos from the man himself in either of them.

That's nice to hear (it's been out of print on dvd for a while and is ususally overshadowed by Kazan's other films). Some of us are also cord-cutters and have no sense of what cable looks like any more.

had the right director from your hints... wrong movie though (and star... thinking now I don't my guess was Brando's first film. should've looked at the photos... that last one I can definitely see Andy Griffith's mug that I saw a million times with him and Opee(???) going fishing on that TV show of his.

Yeah I probably should have held that pic for a follow up, but I've posted some of these in the past that stretch out a bit too long so I'd rather make things a bit on the easy side.

Anyways if you haven't seen it you'll be amazed at the transformational performance of Griffith.

I don't have cable, it's non existent up here. Satellite TV, and I love it.

As for the game, I don't think anyone is going to get my pic and a lot of folks are going to say it's not a real movie, though I will throw down this hint, Wicked magazine called it one of the top ten "cult movies" of all time.

I'll let it go for a while longer, and post another pic this afternoon. If no one has it by tonight I'll name it.

It's all fake, tinyE...but I would not say, it's not a real movie...it's just a very special kind of movie: a mockumentery.
