Wangan Doro?
Nope!
Here's another clue, while Wangan is connected, it's not in the title.

Is it based on a manga and/or anime?

DarthKaal: Is it based on a manga and/or anime?

No. It was however, Japan's answer to Titanic/Avatar, in that it's the highest grossing ever domestic movie for its time. Even besting the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
There were two versions, the original "domestic" cut, and a slightly different, shorter, US cut which had remastered sound to use THX -- both of which were released in cinemas here.
That should be enough clues for some one to get it =)

Odoru Daisosasen The Movie 2: Rainbow Bridge wo Fuusa Seyo! (aka Bayside Shakedown 2) ?
Wow, never though it would be so hard to find a comprehensive list of high-grossing movies in japan... US box-office and Avatar take all the place on the web...

Sorry, I've not been available these days.
So, the answer was "DeUsynlige" (aka "Troubled Waters"), an excellent norwegian movie, pretty recent (seen it last week in theatre in France, but the movie is from 2008). See it if you can.
EDIT: oh, and anyone can take the next turn.

Ooh open game, I'm having this go!
Excellent film with 3 very good reasons to watch (Peter Cushing makes everything more awesome, the other reasons are more obvious)

Perfectly correct, great film
On to the next one then.
