Really good movie by the way. Sad that alot of us americans didn't go see it. But I did hear it was huge in every other country.

.......except Japanm in which it opened up number 6. Wow, that is actually kind of surprising, considering the premise. And the people who did the japanese dub.

But it is huge in china. Which I guess is rational, since the climax of the movie is set in china, and I think one of the main heroes is Chinese.

But still, I thought it would have been bigger in japan. It's highly influenced by Japanese media, the voice actors for the dubs are legends in Mech anime, and a ton of famous Japanese people have highly praised it. And before you say that Japan treats anime like we treat western cartoons, mainly for kids. But keep in mind that this is the country that holds a 60 foot Gundam statue. They love their giant robots.

Who knows, they were propably made weary by transformers, like I suppose america was too.

Side note: Ron Perlman was awesome in this movie, and who is surprised, he's Ron Perlman.

Next Up

It's only been out for 5 days here. It was also released at bad time due to all the children's movies that are currently showing - and thus taking up all the screens during daytime showings. Further it doesn't help that most cinemas are only showing the JPN dub in 3D and the sub in 2D with even more limited showings.

To top it all off, the new Star Trek is getting top billing for the advanced 3 day showing that starts today-ish. When companies hold back their releases like this, it's not surprising the movies don't do as well.
And that would be Black Rain. Someone else can take my go.
