OK, once again I'll make an attempt to find a game I think is less well known... but will probably be obvious to everyone else...


ADDITIONAL:

have I killed it? Is my pic completely obscure, or is everyone just bored with the thread?

Here's a clue - this game involves a bit of ping-pong

SC is for NES, the one I posted is Contra III: The Alien Wars, for SNES. I'm also a little curious about Wulfc's game.

Oh, and the ping pong reference was to active sonar - "Give me a ping, Vassily, just one single ping"
