Wishbone: Speaking of which, I can't imagine that any SC2 fans do not know of The Ur-Quan Masters, but just in case, here's a link.

That installer is unstable as all hell for me under Vista 32-bit. It wasn't like that in XP but I can't do anything while it's working (surf the web while the installer installs).

it couldn't be Yes Prime Minister could it?

Zeewolf: Seems someone listened to you. Yay! Despite recognizing the game, I've never actually played it (in fact, I don't think I've ever seen it in a shop around here). So this is cool.

BY THE SUPERFLUOUS THIRD NIPPLE OF CHRISTOPHER LEE, YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! Oh and only $6 (or $9.20 in real money). Now this is going to sound like I'm exaggerating slightly but I think GOG may be the best thing to have happened to the universe since the formation of the first protein.
Needless to say I'm in for a huge disappointment when my cherished memories of the game's awesomeness get abducted and gang raped by the smelly hobos of dodgy controls and illogical puzzles...
Also I'll never get this netbook I'm saving for if I keep buying games from GOG. Lucky that tomb raider underworld DLC has been pushed back to february, I can get that next pay instead of this one.
But WOO! ICB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is, Alias.
And all bow to the superfluous third nipple of Christopher Walken for the coming of ICB. May his nipple forever remain hairless!
damn, now I have to think of another game!
Christopher Walken doesn't have a third nipple, he's a freak certainly but his deformity is in the part of his brain that controls the pacing of speech & pauses
Okay got a game now. This was a game that came out on C64, spectrum and I THINK amstrad. It was the sequel to a popular game (because they don't usually make sequels to unpopular ones) and was derided in many circles because it was thought to have deviated too far from the play style of the original game, becoming more action oriented (See, Rainbow Six wasn't the first victim of that) and it even dropped 2 of the characters from the original.
Edit: Remembered to upload the image, makes the game easier

If what you're saying is correct, you should be guessing at Shadowfire.
[EDIT] Well, you're right that it is Enigma Force. The way you phrased the above led me to believe that Shadowfire was the sequel, not the other way around.

It doesn't seem like anybody has a clue. I know I don't. The only Spectrum game I remember is Manic Miner :-/
While I do own a 48k Spectrum, I only got it in the mid-90s, and I've never played much on it. I've mostly used it to dabble in BASIC programming. For some reason, the Spectrum BASIC was somewhat more advanced than the C64 BASIC.

Zeewolf: The game is Frederik Pohl's Gateway.
http://www.mobygames.com/game/frederik-pohls-gateway
Ghost: It's from the developer who also did Eric the Unready and the Spellcasting-series, and the interface is pretty much the same. They (Legend Entertainment) were formed by veterans from Infocom, and continued the same tradition of using a common engine for most of their adventure games.

Damn I missed that one. :P
I didn't know that Legend Entertainment was formed by ex-infocom people. Infocom ruled back then. Too bad Legend did't last long.
EDIT: @Luned - How about a little more info or more images?

Assuming you mean for the game I posted... it's a PC game.
There's an oblique hint in the name of the image.
And there are talking bees.
