temps: Did a websearch for this. I got Crysis and Crysis Warhead on GOG recently, and I'm wanting to play Crysis 2, but I was checking on the DRM and it says it has SteamStub DRM.

I'm familiar with Steam, and I'm aware Steam's DRM is often called Steamworks, but I've never heard of "SteamStub" ... does anyone know what that is?

PC Gaming Wiki says it also had SolidShield with limited installations or something as well, but that this was in the older version and in the current one it is "inert." Is this something like SecuROM? I'm really not wanting that crap on my computer, which is why I ask.

AB2012: - Steamworks is the name for Steam's API in general that provides several features (eg, cloud saves, DRM, etc)

- SteamStub DRM - The basic level of DRM used by the Steam client to authenticate your right to play.

- Steam CEG DRM - A second optional layer of DRM sometimes used in addition to above, the game is downloaded minus the game's normal .exe. At the end of the installation, the client will upload the unique ID of the motherboard to a special Steam server, which in turn uses that unique ID to create a Custom Executable unique to each user locked to your motherboard.

temps: Does anyone know if Tages Solidshield has been removed from the Crysis 2 Maximum Edition on Steam?

Does Tages Solidshield leave behind undeletable files on the PC kinda like SecuROM? (And I say undeletable, but really I mean "hard to delete/remove"), and create system security vulnerabilities like SecuROM?

I'm wondering how much I should be bothered by Tages Solidshield.
