thomq: Doesn't make any sense to me to total the time from all games. Rather than report the time played, I think they ought to divide the money spent by the time played, either minutes or hours. Per game. In that way, we could see what a game is really worth to us, individually. But no point sharing that with the world, it's a waste of trivia to anybody else.
A total for achievements also doesn't make any sense to me, but then again achievements aren't interesting to me at all. Makes the game feel like a test, a test of whether I can jump through the hoops of someone else's interests rather than my own. A game feels empty if only its "approved" achievements are declared worthwhile noting, like everything else in between is just filler. Such achievements are like saying "why bother doing anything else in the game". Or "good job clicking the 'next' button". Not that there are 'next' buttons, but sometimes that's what achievements feel like. Though sometimes achievements detract from the story itself, like making fun of the game itself. And again, what's a lump sum matter to anyone else, why share that with the world?
And a total of all games owned? Why? I mean, I don't even bother to count the number of licks to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop anymore.
Anyway, I don't know why they bother showing those numbers, totals lumping together results from all games. Maybe that's useful for GOG when combining everybody's, but I don't find those useful for myself.
I really don't know what is going on with the profiles, they aren't even editable. It's like someone else made the profile. So why would someone else's interests about me matter to me? Why would someone else's interests about me matter to anyone else in the world? Those profiles are just weird. I don't know why GOG let us know they had made profiles about us, let alone tell the whole world they made profiles about us. Just weird.
I'm going to stick with my original thoughts on the matter. GOG wants to keep up with Steam. Steam had a client, GOG didn't. Steam had gaming profiles, GOG didn't. How long before we see a "Recommended For You" section on the main page that suggests you buy games that you hate?
