Nowdays if I access backups and goodies page through Galaxy, for a number of games I see two different sets of downloads - one is the normal game download and the other one has Cloud Saves Backup in its name.

Is this "Cloud Saves Backup Copy" another name for the Galaxy infested installer?

If it is, infact, the case, it should be more prominently displaying the fact.
I would assume that those are there to let you download a backup copy of your cloud saves. Have you played those games through Galaxy, and is cloud saving enabled? If no to either, I'd guess the link is there regardless whether or not there are saves to optionally download (a bit misleading though, if there aren't).

From what I understand (others have said so in the forum), the stand-alone installer that includes Galaxy is not available through Galaxy, only from the web site.

Since I don't use Galaxy, and I don't fancy creating a Wine prefix to test it, I can't reply with more certainty.

No. It's exactly what Maighstir said. If you have a game with cloud saves enabled, you can download a copy of your saves so you can manually transfer them to an offline machine and continue playing.
Ok. Thank you nice GOGlins.
As I don't use cloud saves (like most of the Galaxy features, I mostly use it for downloading and as a library) I guess I won't bother about it.

EDIT: As I don't use cloud saves, the download function only downloaded an empty folder.

However I find it nice that they are offering a method to download saves. Though a full feature web interface to edit, delete and download saves would have been great, I guess it is too much to expect. And then I am not even planning on using it now.
