rampancy: It was really only a matter of time before a major gaming press outlet would pick up on this.

Personally, I'm waiting for the people coming out in defense of GOG's curation, who love to trot out the Digital Homicide strawman. But in all seriousness, it needs to be stressed that the problem isn't curation per se, but GOG doing curation in a way that is neither (a) transparent, nor (b) carried out in a way that is based on any objectively consistent criteria. My fear is that people will use GOG's problems with a curation as an argument against curation for other digital storefronts like Steam or the PlayStation Store.
There are many shades of grey between black & white. I do prefer gogs curation over steams wide open floodgates; that is like saying I do prefer a nasty cold over cancer. Both are shit; but one takes the crown.
What the hell people? This just is not a hard problem to solve. It's called *categorization*. Clearly label what is in the store, allow people to completely block stuff that in their humble opinions are 'crap'.

Having a random curation is stupid and counterproductive to their business.

It's also contrary to their stated corporate values, which is to give us gamers choice. Freedom. The ability to play the way we want. If the game has been struck for some stupid reason, I have no choice but to go elsewhere.

GoG, please live up to your values and fix this.

Yeah, this is what I've been saying for a while including in another thread right yesterday: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/opus_magnum_the_new_game_from_zachtronics/post175

A store can totally present a curated selection and simultaneously open up to anyone who wants to dig deep and filter through the crap. And with things like gogmixes & user tags, people could do their own curation to supplement (or entirely override) the overlords from Poland.

It is not a hard problem.

If there's one potential *real* problem, it's the support costs for the uncurated crap games that turn out to be nonworking or breaking with patches, etc. But this can be solved too: let the uncurated crap be, label it as such. People can ask for a refund and shout at the dev/publisher if it doesn't work. GOG could still provide 100% support on their curated selection.

Kuntcocku are not major news.
Why it sucks

It's a legitimate place for trolling with a hint of gaming news dabbled in for good measure.
The site has been involved in many controversies over the years.
The site has lots of "click and bait" articles.
The site is known for having random ban days where they ban people for fun.
Sometimes the site bans people and disable accounts for no apparent reason.
One of several gaming news sites that sided with SJWs over actual gamers.
Some of their articles contain inappropriate content and foul language, as well as misplaced information
The site has been accused of being corrupt.
The page holds a huge blog community with people that heavily criticize the site.
Sometimes they report false news (the reason it was blacklisted in the first place).
They also display acts of ignorance and are known to actually shill out to several companies like Doritos and Mountain Dew, as well as being bought out by gaming companies to make positive reviews and sometimes they make terrible and hypocritical reviews.
Kotaku was a Gawker site and Gawker is bad. Nuff said.

Spectre:
well, that list is just as biased and rubbish as anything posted on Kotaku just because of this line:

"One of several gaming news sites that sided with SJWs over actual gamers."

tells me more than I need to know about its origin, bias and purpose to safely ignore this post.

That's what I was going to say. People immediately lose all credibility for me when they use this term.

Also the idea that gamer and SJW are mutually exclusive. "Anyone who didn't take part in gamergate harrassment can't be a real gamrrr!!"

It reflects badly on you because it makes it seem like you support immoral sites and people with harmful views towards journalism and gamers.

hmm... no... no it does not. where did I approve of Kotaku? I said your post was to be ignored, not that Kotaku is great.

Nice try.

Vythonaut: It's the same for racing games too. And before you think "legal nightmare with the licensing", they seem to have rejected(*) Cranks & Goggles, a top down racing game that doesn't have any licensing issues (instead of Bugatti, you get Rigatti and so on). Maybe racing games don't sell well on GOG? Who knows...

Lucian_Galca: Yeah, the rejection of sports & racing games that have no licensing issues really annoys me as I wouldn't mind having a bit more variety in the library.

Once again i'd like to bring up that the MacVenture Series Collection games (Original versions of Shadowgate, Uninvited, Deja Vu 1 & 2) being on Steam but not here on gog because of supposed rejection by gog is another one that annoys me.
I'd love if GOG started bringing classic old sports games like Earl Weaver, Hardball, and a few other non-licensed titles that companies used to make here. I'm not anti-sports at all. Not wanting FIFA, Madden, NBA Live or the other yearly release drek that comes from EA is not because I hate sports games.

Yep, pretty much what I want too. Some of the best sports games i've played were unlicensed.
I just bought Fire Pro World on Steam because I don't expect GOG to ever get it. Even if it was pitched at them, they'd probably say it's too Japanese or whatever bizarre reason they used to exclude Cave/Degica.

I did the same thing with Danganronpa. Spike Chunsoft is a publisher full of games that GOG will probably never understand...

Man, I wish we'd get Danganronpa here. Those games are sooooo good. They're not any more alienating than the typical adventure game that gets released here, either.
