Starmaker: I'm just getting irrationally bothered by the >implication I can't help but feel is present, that I'm paying the money out of the goodness of my heart or something. The game is a product. If it's interesting or looks interesting or I expect it to be interesting, I pay full price and play it right away. This is normal. "Supporting the devs" is something like paying extra on itch (I once paid $20 for a free comic); I feel like using these words to refer to paying the normal list price is putting the onus on specifically game developers to prove their virtue and deserve the money, something that's absent in all other industries (many of which are harmful and shouldn't be supported).

Leroux: Ok, I think I get what you mean. It does indeed sound somewhat patronizing or entitled that someone (incl. myself) grants developers the "mercy" of paying the price they are asking for instead of waiting for them to sell out their products, and then kind of boasts about it. I guess it comes with the oversaturation of the market and the sales culture, but of course that's not really an excuse.
I'm taking the other side and disagreeing. It's not much different than funding a KickStarter, except the developer sees the money after the product releases instead of beforehand. Both are notions of "I want this to succeed, and I also get to play the game."
Thanks everybody for your discussion!
it may be old but the game i paid full price for was terraria.
GTA V, FTL and Into the Breach.

tinyE: was GTA V worth it?
I can't be taken seriously because i bought it for ps3 when it came out, finished the story and selled it.
Then i waited por the PC version and bought it again. The fun part is i played more SP than multiplayer by now. i don't have a crew an my friend which still game (i'm 36) don't play gta.

Right now i'm playing SP with a mod that enables steering wheels. Beyond the lack of FoV setting and track-ir support i'm having a blast with it. Just roaming the map in 1st person while listening to the radio is really fun (someone in reddit posted the music from all the previous games which is neat)
I'm not going to go through my whole order list, since that'd take too much time, so I'll just list games I bought for full price since last summer.
Iconoclasts
SteamWorld Dig 2
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

The only game I know I'll buy at regular price in the near future is Into the Breach whenever the Mac version becomes available.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number - I would have happily paid double probably. GIMME IT! TAKE MY MONIES!

Manhunt 2 - Paid anything they were asking. It was like 8mm back alley guy with videotapes with no labels, how much bro?

The only games that I've paid full price for the last couple of years are Cuphead and Stardew Valley. Those are absolutely worth the asking price.

I would have paid full price for Tales of Maj'Eyal if I knew how great it was.

On GOG I bought Star Trek: 25th anniversary, Star Trek: Judgment rites, Starfleet Academy, Albion and Outcast for full price...I played those games as a teenager, wanted them again and didn't want to wait for a sale. I also bought Starfleet Command for full price on an impulse...probably a mistake.
Apart from that only game I seem to have bought for full price on Gog is Technobabylon (also got Shardlight and Kathy Rain for very minor discounts)...I want to support such indie developers, so I'm not trying that hard to wait for a sale.

Full full price? Nothing in recent memory. The "lowest discount" In the last 3 years was Blackwell Epiphany at 10% new release discount, followed by Grim Dawn at 25% discount.
The last games I paid full price for was Prey and Dishonored 2.
The Witcher 3. And the Devil May Cry HD trilogy.
Paid full price for The Fall Part 2: Unbound.

A good indie game. I was a fan of the first game. The sequel made everything aspect of the first game better and more fun to play.
