teceem: Mass Effect 2 (currently playing the horizon mission)
Hope you remembered your bug repellent. ;)

avatar
teceem: Pros:
- I actually like the new direction better. It's an Action/Adventure/Immersive Sim, while ME1 was more Action "RPG light".
- The side missions are a lot better than those in ME1. The DLC are actually quite good. A bit of a surprise... my experience with past Bioware DLC (DA1/2, ME1) is that they range from bad to mediocre.
Most of the DLC is nice, and the side missions as well...and some of ME3's content is the same way(barring the cr*p endings). The companion loyalty quests are the same(even if most of them boil down to mommy/daddy/childhood trauma type issues). :)

teceem: - Selecting squad members for a mission --- How am I to know who I'd choose best when I don't know what I'll encounter there? (same issue as the first game).
Some less spoiler-y guides have been made for this....also with some missions it's easy to tell who to take based on the journal descriptions.

teceem: All in all, I like this second installment better!
It also has a killer soundtrack...also protip: If you have the arrival DLC do it AFTER you finish the main game(you will be allowed to do it then and anything else you missed, I believe).

Thanks!
Some annoying crashing bugs in this game... it's the first game that made me learn how to force quit using the command prompt.
The Witcher 3. I had to replay the first 2 games before I can begin with the 3rd game. It is a beautiful game and I'm only running it on medium settings with some graphics options disabled. I cannot wait to get lost in Geralt's world.

*Maybe semi-spoilers*

Another tip(or tips):.....try to finish all companion/side missions except 1 total(of either type/plus all needed shopping at hub worlds or visits to hub worlds) BEFORE doing the IFF mission(you'll know it when you see it)...as once you finish it and get the crewmember** there you get like a few stops(I think 2 or less) to go to endgame & still get the best ending bits for the crew.

**=After "welcoming" said crew member you will either get their companion mission then or after 1 other mission.....and if you have 1 side/companion mission(of another crew mate) left you can do that one, then the newest crew member's companion mission will be available(by talking to them as usual) and you can do that before doing endgame & very likely still get the best crew endgame.
-----------------------------------------------------------

All that above aside, WAIT till you get to the end and the infamous crew member selections(i.e. pick crew for various end game bits, and pick right or they die)....i'd recommend having a handy chart that can be found online(I also have one if you need it then).
------------------------------------------------------------

Also make sure to UPGRADE all your ship stuff via talking to crewmembers after a certain point in the game(on upgrades)....else "bad things" happen near the end.

*End spoilers*

Hope all the above helps...and if you need any tips and my memory is up to snuff to be able to help lemme know. :)

Cavenagh: Resident Evil 2 Remake

Tower of Time
Sounds smashing....hope you have fun. :)
=====================================================

My own entry: Chaser(PC, On Win10 64 Bit)

A somewhat decent game(some parts moreso than others)with the standard/cliched "protag has/might have amnesia" plot, along with a seeming dash of nods/etc to Total Recall(Mars/rebellions on mars/etc....mostly talked about at first then explored more as time goes on).

Pros

Nice action/combat, some nice cutscenes, some nice music in some spots, some nice levels here and there, decent(if cliched) plot.

Cons

Not much interaction(past combat) beyond pushing some buttons and terminals, some levels have sparse "set pieces", some levels(like an underwater level or two) are a bit confusing to navigate(orientation and controls), some doors/panels/openings can trigger cutscenes/level ends with little to no warning.

Also it seems to crash if one plays much too long in later levels, but that possibly might be a one off thing(as I have only seen it happen twice and not in the same spots) not related to the game.

Nitpicks

You can tell they loved shiny surfaces/chome as they sprinkle it in many places akin to how technicolor(in the US and maybe other places) first used color in film/tv.

Misc

Pics will be posted in the screenshot thread here in the general forums(take a screenshot) in a bit.

I'm playing Jill of the Jungle. This is the nice thing about GOG: I'm on vacation, visiting my mom, and all I need to do is log into my account and download the game to play. I don't need to jump through hoops to download a client and then get it cleared to play on another computer or whatever.
Happy New Year to all gamers. I just finished Slay the Spire with the Silent using a poison+good draw+good defense build. Now a break and will start the Defect in a few days.
Just finished "Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones".

Not a bad game. Honestly was expecting more.

Game starts so well, and around mid-game and the afterwards... so weird... :/

Very unique game tho nonetheless. Worth playing at least once for sure.

It's one of those games where you could spend hours simply create your character. ;)

*There have been one update since the release, but there's still enough small bugs everywhere. But at least, they did fixed (in my case) all the game-breaking bugs.
Duke Nukem: World Tour(PC-Steam-Win 10)

I mainly got this game as I love Duke(all the games i've played have been very good or at least decent in many ways) & this promises/promised more of the same....with new levels by some of the original creators, more voice work by the same VA, and other nice extras. It was also cheap/on sale, so I decided to grab it now while I could. That said, some pros and cons & other assorted musings as I play(updated as I progress).

Pros

A new episode(it seems to be a new country for each level)...some of the areas are somewhat accurate for the locations they are supposed to be depicting.

Some more new/fine VA work(the new custom lines that is) by Jon St Jon(albeit the lines sometimes aren't as good as the older ones from the first episodes).

Some nice locations/set pieces in the levels.

There is some nice commentary in the steam version(dunno if one can access it in EDuke playthroughs), albeit not much of it(in the new episode, at least, from what i've played).

Cons+Nitpicks

One cannot see a game time/time & date saved stamp on game saves OR give them custom names in the steam version(it is likely possible to do so if one ports it to EDuke, though).

This version doesn't have the expansions like other versions.

The levels seem to re-use some textures(like bookcases/some signs/etc) from the old episodes here and there.

The re-recorded default duke talk(like the various sounds duke makes) is meh compared to the original.....the newly re-recorded lines, while clearer, come off as less "macho" and more "wimpy"....also imo the gritty sounding nature of the original line recordings sounded better.

Some levels(the first at least, which I played) are smaller compared to the prior episode's(non dukematch) levels.

They changed all the red crosses to pills(this is a nitpick....I know why they did it, I just don't agree with it)

No intro cutscene at the start of the new episode(another nitpick)

Bugs(some spoilers)

Level 1: The nuke symbol(end of level) is on a door and if one stands too close when "using" it it sometimes won't trigger....one should stand back a bit further and try again if that happens.

Big bug: The door switch to unlock the door in the rooms with the blue keycard(after getting past the lasers) in Level 6(Golden Carnage) will cause the door to stay locked if one unlocks the door then locks it again with the same switch, causing one to be stuck in that room.

Level 6: The 3 commentary triggers on the water transport and 1 trigger on/near the one submarine(USS Frisco, iirc) in Level 6(Golden Carnage) don't activate unless one is in the right spots and looking at them from the right angle when "using" them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall i'd give it a 7/10 so far(the new episode at least, which I am playing mainly)

Just decided to play the Bard's Tale 1 remaster for a little bit, starting a new file, and I already have a character who knows all the (BT1 accessible) spells.

I posted the method I used in the game's game specific forum if you're interested.
Back to Civilization IV.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered

PS4

This game doesn't hold up that well. The shooting is very stiff and you fight wave after wave of spawning baddies. The game has some major difficulty spiles from time to time. The controls are also rather stiff and clunky. It does look good on the PS4 though. There are also too many lever-pushing or switch-flipping puzzles in the game and just too many annoying puzzles that destroy the pacing of the game.

It's not a bad game but Uncharted 2 is a much better game.
1. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition.
2. Theme Park(might lose interest in the future cause I've had some massive bugs, but for now I'll keep playing until the fun level drops below what I think are acceptable levels)
3. Wolfenstein 3D
4. Sin: Gold
5. GRIP: Combat Racing
6. Star Wars Episode 1: Pod Racer
7. Heroes of Might and Magic V
As you can tell I hop around a bit with my gaming. I was playing Endless Sky(steam) pretty heavily, but now it won't launch and I've tried three or four fixes already and none of them have worked.

I'm a ways into Tokyo Xanadu. It's pretty cool when the gameplay shows up. Falcom just knows how to make these kinds of games. The downside is that sometimes you have to sit through a lot of cutscenes to get to the monster fighting.
