all it did was blow everyone apart. created divides and took a noble activity and made it so accessible to normies and idiots, we now have the joy of low IQ content that you all voted for.

Look, buddy, just because decently large chunks of the human race are psychotic, maladjusted feral animals doesn't mean we need to deprive everyone of nice things.
accessibility for sales does not bring the best crowd.
nor does it attract honest customers.

LAN meant if you said something stupid or did something stupid you will be brought to group justice.
now people can do whatever the hell they want and that includes the developer who you expect to be honest with his server settings..

i should know the last website that was a honest arena was Twilight Servers in 2007.. rest in peace your dota server will be missed.

You're mistaking online activity for the soulless corp0rate lust for profits that promotes consumerism through endless addictive engagement and provocative division of the ignorant masses.

Before corporate and governmental interference, the online medium was quite chill and extreme content was relegated to the fringes. Now, it's front and center because it makes some people lots of money. So it's not the online gaming part that ruined things, it's how online gaming was turned into a product that radicalizes consumers in order to extract the greatest amount of wealth from them.

It does indeed.

We can only try to be kinder ourselves, as difficult as that may be at times.
You need therapy. That constant negativity is extremely unhealthy.
I've made many solid friendships through online gaming. Some have even become real life friendships. Online gaming can be good for humanity too.

thats nice, due to the efforts of a few developers to ensure i stay alone till i die i don't trust anyone online anymore.
i will never trust again and never forgive.
truth is gaming has become like the sea of piracy... were paying for products but the people that supply them are digging thru our data, messing with us socially and never held accountable.

and piracy is illegal? BUT DEVELOPERS PIRATE THRU YOUR SEARCH HISTORY?

Indeed.

Progress in all it's varied forms usually means negatives as well as positives. But to focus on just the negatives and be blind to the positives is not very healthy or realistic.

Life is often about two steps forward and one step back. There are pitfalls and losses for sure, but also benefits.

If you want to open a thread with a political agenda, then we can talk about the politics of South Africa. Except, no we can't because political threads are against the forums terms and conditions.

But since all your threads are trolling which is also against the terms of conditions:

How could so many people in your country vote for Zuma who is a corrupt rapist authoritarian?

Is that the Fifth Roman Legion in your apartment or are you just happy to see me...?
I tend to enjoy games that try and replicate a multiplayer (online) experience, but I have played a few MP (online) games in the past.

I still remember going into my first MP match on Sniper Elite 2 and being told -- by an "adult" using some very colorful language -- to k___ myself and various members of my family because I didn't know all the map points of ingress and egress.

But then there was RDR 1 (online) where I was being hassled by some young teen-age miscreants, got one to think about his actions, and talked back-and-forth (via RDR) for years -- helping him sort out life goals and prepare for university.

And Dragon's Dogma had a great item trading / pawn trading community via DD's asynchronous online element.

And lastly I played hundreds and hundreds of hours of Heros & Generals!

So, online MP is a strange beast that I certainly don't actively look to engage in, but... once-in-awhile I'll take a chance... and sometimes I don't regret it.

But what has online MP done for humanity?

Moreso than angering thousands (or potentially millions) or been a 21st Century babysitter? Mainly wasted our time. ha. ;) But I'm willing to entertain the idea that there's an MP game out there for everyone... just not every MP game is for everyone.
