Trying for the second time to get through World War Z, I just dont see whats good about it when you see how highly rated it is.

The blurb on the back should have the publishers sued to hell and back....NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE!111... When you consider the book and film have very little in common.

On a side note, the movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Just finished Dance with Dragons. Totally didn't expect what happens. Can't wait for show to start again. Wish the games had gotten better reviews. Love the Game of Thrones universe. If anybody has played either the RTS or the RPG and is a fan of the show or books, let me know if either of the games are worth it. Thanks.
Didn't read World War Z but the Zombie Survival guide was pretty funny. It's sort of a slog, but once you realize how serious this dude is as he's writing the book, it makes the reading all the funnier. . .though that guy eating the other guy's face in Florida and requiring a bullet to the brain after several close range shots in the chest does raise the question. . .

I've just finished The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. It was ok except for a few "yeah right" moments.

So, what book did the GoT series leave off with? I think they are still on the third book in the series, but it has been a while since I read the first four books. Dance with Dragons is in my backlog, so hopefully I have one more season before I need to have it read.

Finished reading The Mixed Men by Alfred E. Van Vogt. 4/5, I liked it almost as much as The Voyage of the Space Beagle.

I'm sort of hopping around a bit between Bernard Cornwall's various historical novels, Bernard Knight's Crowner John series, and Ben Bova's Grand Tour series.

I like George R. R. Martin's books too, but at the rate he's going, I'm beginning to think that the sun will have long burned out before the "Song of Ice and Fire" saga is actually finished.

I can just see the ending now... "And they all died unhappily ever after... The End."

Currently on book 5 of Dune Chronicles. Loving the series.

K is for Killing by Sue Grafton. I started the series from the beginning (which, if I finish all of the released books, will be the second time I've read them) and I still find them enjoyable. Oddly, I remember the earlier books better than I remember the middle section of books. I'm still enjoying them, and while I usually remember the outcome, I usually don't remember how Kinsey got there. So there are still some surprises.

Before I started this series, I think the last book I read was The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan. I suppose I'm a bit older than the series' targeted audience, but I still enjoyed the book. Still, I hope in his future books, he ditches the same premise he has used for every one of his young adult books (the Percy Jackson series, the Heroes of Olympus series, and the Kane Chronicles) because it's starting to get old. It usually begins with something serious that sets in motion some earth-shattering event that must be stopped before some quickly approaching date, with other, serious sub-plots that threaten to ruin everything by breaking up the team or otherwise getting them off-track. The books typically overcome this tired premise about half-way through, but I'm finding it harder and harder to get into each book.
