Gonna mention this one again as its sequel is coming in a couple of weeks and I think alot of people here would like it, if you liked Fallout and Stephen Kings The Stand, I think you would really like this, but as I said, with the sequel out in a week or so, this would be the ideal time to read it : The Passage by Justin Cronin. EDIT : Fair Warning... DO NOT read the PLOT part of the wiki.

Finally decided to read the Earthsea books by Ursula K. Le Guin
Guess what? I'm reading Akira for the first time ever!

It was just there, sitting on the shelf at my library. Volume 1. Breathtaking stuff so far.

I am in love with Kaneda and Neo Tokyo.

Just noticed your post, and holy crap I second this whole-heartedly. I thought The Passage was a fantastic read. And I didn't know the second book was due out next week. W00t! I know what I'm reading next week.
"The Haunted" - Bentley Little
"Youth in Revolt" - C.D. Payne
I'm continuing my basic exploration of history beyond just reading a lot about World War 2. Following books on Genghis Khan and the Mongols, The Crusades and a history of Prussia, I'm on to The Rise of Rome by Anthony Everitt. So far, it's an interesting read. He mixes a lot of mythology and the works of people like Cicero with the current thoughts from historians and himself.
Bought the Humble Ebook Bundle and the 2nd Story Bundle yesterday. Any recommendations on what to read first other then the graphic novel from the Humble Bundle. The crime genre from the story bundle was a bonus for me.

Good for you! I remember my mom reading me those when I was a kid. I think those and Lloyd Alexander are what got me into reading in the first place.

On a whim I just found my old copies of the Watch series (Day Watch, Night Watch, Twilight Watch, and Last Watch) and reread them. Fun times. I wouldn't say there were the best books, but I have always enjoyed them. Up next... I'm tutoring a kid who has to read Once and Future King, so I need to get that on my Kindle (should be free I think) and reread it since it's been uh.... 14 years....
Travels in West Africa - Mary Kingsley

Yeah, I was told awhile back it was due in august, but it must have been pushed back, I'm really looking forward to it myself, The Passage was one of the best books I have ever read.
Reading Bourne Deception atm. It is 7th book on the Bourne series and of course it is not Ludlum who is writing these anymore. Still enjoyable books though.
Halfway through Simon R Green's Deathstalker Legacy.
Joe Ledger series - Patient Zero, Dragon Factory, The King Of Plagues and the assassins code ( had to import from us as wasn't released in uk when i wanted it awesome series well worth a read

currently reading the game of thrones series
I'm on the 8th book from the Saga of Drizzt. I'm re-reading all of it :)
I'm also about half way through Company Men, the 3rd book in the Diaspora Trilogy.
And I just got in the mail The Hunt for Voldorius, which I can't wait to start!
The Gods of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs

Watched John Carter and enjoyed it (it seems I'm the only one among all of my friends that liked the movie). I didn't realize it was based on an older series of books that I had never heard of, written by the author of Tarzan. The first book was good but this second one is much better.
