Painted_Doll: Have you applied for the job ?
Not for this one yet, since I don't have that much experience with reddit and 4chan. Will probably send an application either way though.

Cyraxpt: I was not talking about the rep system as it is, i was talking about not being able to post links unless i have 10 rep, the system that was put in place in order to stop the bots from posting links.
Then I would imagine Hyper's reasoning is accurate; it serves a purpose (stopping spam bots) so even though it inconveniences some legitimate users it's easier to leave it on.

adaliabooks: I'm sure it is, but I'm not in any position to move there...

HypersomniacLive: Can't move? Are you nailed down in your current position?
:P

JMich: For better or worst, quite a few things will require you being able to quickly communicate with the rest of the team. Not to mention staff meetings about which direction the site is going, brainstorming sessions for promotions and/or contests, as well as the ability to build some team spirit.
So yes, you could do the whole work remotely, but you'd be like the singer of the band that tells them to practice their song until they are perfect, and then he'll come in to do the vocals.

Fairfox: Meh, even Steam has user/community moderators, from back in teh old forum days to teh newer 'Discussions'. GOGie really shoulda separated forum mods and the new general 'specialist' (whatevs that is)... job.
That's what I was thinking. Heck, you wouldn't even need to pay me for it, I'd do it for free as a volunteer position. I'm certainly on here enough for it.
Pretty sure tinyE has stated basically the same thing as well.

The bots are still around and it's the COMMUNITY who delete their spam, do people still click on link from some random account speaking korean? Really?

But this was what i got from the support:

"a) This was implemented a while ago as an anti-spam precaution, as you well know. It may be a good idea to phase it out in the foreseeable future. I'll discuss it with our web team at the first opportunity. "

Problem is, like ALWAYS, they stop answering, false promises all over again...
nvm :P

If you're offering to do a job for free, you're devaluating the job & possibly blocking a few people from being able to earn money that they might need a lot more than you.

This type of situation also tends to spread, so any former jobs that might've been paid, will no longer be, the employee will be replaced by a volunteer.

Please don't do that.
Hope on the horizon.

.......what, even? O_o
I'm just pointing out how readily many of us, including myself, would do it so long as it didn't have the requirement of moving to Poland...not sure what you're getting at.

I'm just pointing out that doing it for free would cost someone a potential job. No need to get so defensive, I wasn't "getting at" anything.

You'd do it for a hobby, someone might do it because they need the money. That's all.
