He's short, he's bad, he's back – and 25% off.

Missed him? Ceville, the mustache-twirling, disenfranchised tyrant, is now back on GOG.com! Join in his pointy'n'clicky misadventures with a 25% discount that will run until the end of his homecoming week!

Better not ask how he did it - the important thing is he's back where he belongs and still as delightfully evil as ever. Now that this is done, he can once again turn his attention towards saving beautiful Faeryanis - the very kingdom he once ruled until his brave subjects gave him the boot. Sure he was a little arrogant, perhaps a dash selfish, and definitely quite obnoxious, but at least he wasn't a horror-summoning monster like that two-faced Basilus! Plus he's got a fabulous hat and that's all you really need to rule.

Come say welcome back to Ceville and help him reclaim his throne!
The 25% discount will last until January 23, 2:00 PM UTC.
Ok, this time im going to actually buy it.
Forgot about it last time.

Wow, had the game always been 5.99? I thought it had been like 15 or 20.
Always nice to see games return. I miss others more, but still. =)

Chacranajxy: Missed him? These character designs are hideous and the game looks bad. I'm honestly not sure who this is a victory for.
Victory for the people that want to buy the game. Nobody is forcing you into buying it it if you don't like it. More diversity and more selection is always better in my book.

MaGog says it was $9.99 in the past.

PaterAlf: There were at least two big "We are back, but only for the weekend!" sales, before the games came back permanetly.
Ah yes, how could that "We are back, but only for the weekend!" big sale slip my mind? But I only remember one, about a month after they were pulled.

It seems I didn't remember correctly and the other comeback was during an Insomnia sale (but didn't include all games).
Looks like not only did it get a lower price, it's regionally priced too! It's $3.49 for me (currently $2.69 with the discount.) :D

Oh, well that's not bad.

huppumies: As I recall, something like that happened with Nordic(?) games in the past. Some games were removed, but later went on sale for a limited time. It wasn't terribly funny.

My memory may be failing me here, so if I'm talking nonsense, sorry about that.

Also, yay for coming back!

skeletonbow: You're correct on that. Nordic had to pull their games from the catalogue a few years ago due to contractual obligations elsewhere, but were able to return the games during a sale promotion only at one point, and later returned for good. While we never knew the specific details of this behind the scenes (and quite frankly it's none of our business <grin>), a reasonable hypothesis is that Nordic had contractually binding terms for distribution elsewhere that had clauses concerning not giving other distributors any better pricing or similar, and that with GOG's own pricing changes it would require Nordic to accomodate a different pricing model that would have put them at odds to a contract elsewhere (Steam likely, pure guess). Taking it from there, it's likely that the contract they were bound to elsewhere didn't have any strict conditions concerning promotional sales elsewhere - which in theory would have allowed them to return their games here for the promotion without coming into conflict with contractual obligations elsewhere. Presumably after a certain period of time their contract expired and they renewed it under different terms that did not conflict with being able to sell games at GOG under terms that worked for both companies without conflict.
Close. It had to do with GOG's "no regional pricing for old games" and a currency conversion process that GOG adopted at the time of the removal (late Summer 2014). Here's a statement from GOG and a statement from Nordic, explaining the reasons for the removal. During promos this didn't really matter because of the huge discounts and short duration, hence the temporary return of some/all games during a couple of promos. When GOG finally accepted regional pricing for all games things became much simpler for Nordic (they could now have the exact same princing policy for every store), and soon after they made their return (early Spring 2015).
So the cause for Nordic leaving was the (then) new currency conversion process (which conflicted with their pricing policies), and what allowed their return was GOG allowing regional pricing for all games (which resolved said conflicts). At least, this is what I've gathered from what I've read about it.

Anyway, I think Nordic handled this situation quite well and showed real commitment to keep working with GOG and finding a solution that worked for everyone, which made them one of the publishers I respect the most.

Hey GOG,
How many souls have been devoted to make it happen :P

Anyway, great news :)

Yeah, that's a more detailed explanation that I believe is correct and more or less what I alluded to. I agree with your conclusions as well, Nordic always seemed to be quite GOG friendly. In the matter of business however sometimes you have to make decisions that are not ideal due to lack of other options. Glad they were able to sort it out over time though.
Welcome back !
It's always good to see games return - especially on a permanent basis.

Ceville, you didn't happen to see Gunship 2000 and the Ice and Islands expansion out there by any chance? If so, why didn't you bring them with you?!?

*continues to wait impatiently*
This game was not available for sale? Did not notice that ... I have the game for ages in my library..
