MikeMaximus: Yeah, some confirmation and/or information about the DLC plans would go a long way to selling more copies.

We like complete editions, it's the reason a lot of us started shopping here.

Konrad: There are lots of ways to release DLC here - separately, as a pack, both, etc. The details simply aren't set in stone yet, so we're naturally trying to be conservative with specifics.

That said, I can confirm that the DLC for Tropico 5 will be here. :)
Are you prepared to be held to that confirmation by the people here? ;)

Socratatus: Funnily enough I`m not a `reload` player unless the game crashes. I know reloading is what a lot of people do by default, if things don`t go their way, I`m not one of them. I take whatever the dice rolls, and it`s still too easy.
Also it`s pretty much impossible to die in the game, (it`s never happened to me), you can be voted out or just lose it all, but not die so far. So not sure where you`re getting the `death` thing from.

p.s. I`m talking about the 4th game version of Tropico.
I got it from "Dictatorships are never that easy" considering that a lot of real dictators had their leadership being ended by a violent death. I do too do not think Tropico is a true to the core dictatorship simulation (it being not is part of its charm) but I do think that it would be probably be much harder if you could only start the game once; your first game, without retrying or getting a tutorial and no saves/reloads.

Probably not impossible, but not all real dictators end up getting shot too.

I wonder if we could end up seeing Port Royale 3 Gold Edition here sometime soon? More pirate fairing is alright in my book :)

For that matter, maybe even Disciples III Gold, though not sure how loved that was.

I'd prefer the Reincarnation version of Disciples III. No idea of its feasibility now that bitComposer has filed for bankruptcy, though.

While I haven't played too much Tropico 5 yet, my initial reaction is that they're sufficiently different to merit owning and playing both. They're still very similar, and having played Tropico 3 and 4 I was able to sit down and play Tropico 5 without any further instruction. Some features no longer exist, some new features are added, and so far it seems generally more polished.

These, on the other hand, are very similar games. Tropico 4 is basically Tropico 3 with "more stuff", but also comes across as a bit unpolished. If you just want the most content, Tropico 4 all the way. If you'd rather have less stuff with more polish, go with Tropico 3. If aesthetic is your top priority then definitely go for Tropico 3, because the old buildings from Tropico 3 and new buildings from Tropico 4 have a very different art style and do not look good side-by-side. Either way the games are extremely similar in terms of their gameplay and the only reason to get both is if you're going for the full 80% discount from the bundle.

Yes, it is. Every dlc gives you a new building, a new outfit for your dictator and a new mission/map to play on. This is why the game is seen as incomplete without the dlc.

Well Modern Times is really an expansion pack that gives you a new campaign (12 missions) with 30 new buildings and new edicts. But other dlc give you about ten new missions with a new building each. Mind though that Modern Times buildings are more or less upgrades/replacements for existing buildings that appear as you progress in the missions.

Thanks, I've got #3 so I'll probably skip four and wait for the complete edition of #5 to be on sale.

Maybe try Tropico 1. Tropico 4 is the easiest in the series. ColBashar has posted a good comparison of the games in the Tropico 5 release thread.
