Up to 75% off TotalBiscuit's favorites: Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Pharaoh + Cleopatra and more.

Love him or hate him, TotalBiscuit is a force to be reckoned with. He's the guy that millions of gamers listen to on a daily basis - whether it's first impressions, reviews, or his trademark cynical commentary on industry news, ins and outs - The Cynical Brit's influence on a generation of gamers can be hotly debated, but never denied. Today, we take a look at some of his favorites, his top bites, the 30+ games that <span class="bold">TotalBiscuit Recommends</span>:

From the creative minds of Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and Josh Sawyer comes Pillars of Eternity, where adventure continues beyond the gate. It's a critically lauded revival of the classic cRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, to call it Obsidian Entertainment's spiritual sequel would be an understatement. Of course, that's not the only modern revival of old school favourites - Wasteland 2 is a sequel to the historic 1988 title that redefined RPG gameplay and inspired legendary titles like Fallout - full of multipathed quest solving, choice, consequence and maturity. Brilliant storytelling isn't just an RPG domain - classic point and click adventures like The Longest Journey or its big, action-adventure sister Dreamfall: The Longest Journey are known for featuring some of the most unique universes and best written tales in gaming. The list just goes on with some of absolutely top releases in gaming history including S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, Mount & Blade, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, and so much more!

emlurker: I will not buy anything from Gog.com until this promotion is over.
Threaten to leave forever, maybe that will convince GOG to make this promo permanent.

0Grapher: Consoles are pre-manufactured computers that have a console-specific operating system installed.
Normally you are not allowed to install another OS on these machines and the companies do what they can to prevent that.
Not only that but you also can't install the console-specific OS on any other computer.
That means you are always required to use a machine built by the console company if you want to play a console game.

Console games are thus made for some of the least open systems which is not really what you would want.

I assume that I've forgotten to mention some of the most important points but maybe this is what Starmaker was hinting at.
He never made the point that console games are known for their DRM-software. What he said is that the consoles themselves are a sort of DRM which you could probably call hardware-DRM. :)
I see your point, but I'm going to have to disagree. To me that all just sounds like a natural side effect of the products hardware being made for a solitary purpose. To me it's basically the equivalent of complaining that your toaster can't play MP3's, or your microwave doesn't play Doom 4.

Consoles are designed and advertised for a specific function, and to allow that function to be easy to use. That function is playing the video games compatible with their hardware. I'm not going to count the fact that you can't switch their OS or anything around as DRM, that's ridiculous to me.

But to each their own I suppose.
So much salt over TotalBiscuit in this thread. Holy crap. Folks need to get back to playing some vidya instead of finding things to complain and hate over like that. Not healthy for you.

The sale looks interesting. Already own some of the games. Would like to get Pillars of Eternity but a bit out of my reach right now. Have my eye on the soundtrack, that's for sure.

Just for the laughs GOG should have run another sale at the same time with the same games and discounts, but named it 'Games TotalBiscuit hates!'. That would have really confused people ;)
The best puzzle platformers and point and click adventures. That would be fun. :)

I don't think your argument with the toaster is valid because it's not about what a product is advertised as but what the capabilities of the product are.
EA can claim as often as they want that Simcity 5 was designed for the online experience. Their online DRM is still DRM. (Edit:I am aware that they have removed this specific DRM in the case of Simcity)
If your toaster has the hardware capabilities to play MP3 files but the company's "toaster software" prevents you from utilizing its capabilities that may classify as DRM.
You have to decide in each specific case If it is actually DRM but the question definitely doesn't depend upon what the product is advertised as.

Just as Windows has DRM consoles have many forms of DRM -that is absolutely undebatable. If you are willing to accept that is your decision. (I for one am a Linux supporter)
What's important is that I am not talking about "hardware being made for a solitary purpose" but about hardware being made unusable for other purposes by software. :)

They should make a promo with two lists, one with some other games he recommends, and the other of games he hates. But only reveal which one is which AFTER the promo ends. Now that could really mess with people.

You have an evil mind. I like it :)
I think that complaining about the salt is as helpful as the salt itself...but...dear lord some people are taking their hate for TB too far, there was some random loonie on twitter saying that GOG might be helping Totalbiscuit sell information to GG...yeah.

I seriously hope this person was joking, but these days you never know.

In other , brighter news I got Perimeter and now im trying to figure out how is it expecting me to play the second mission, the one where you have to charge the warp gate and shield yourself from the scourge, am I supposed to place the generators strategically or just spam them to keep my energy up? damn you Absolute Cookie! your recommendation confuses me!

phaolo: Hey, have "Don't Starve" devs ever added some form of automation & safe zone to the game, or is it still grindy & hardcore?
I miss the expansion, but it seems super difficult O_o'
You can always create your own world with your own rules, less enemies, more food, more day time, less time on winter, etc.
Not sure what do you mean by automation & safe zone so i'll say that the game is still the same (i think that they even made the game harder with the dragonpie nerf).

I'd like a way to create zones with permanent light\fire, a damn hut to be covered, some method to auto-harvest food (magic,robots?).. at least in the main word after having obtained some specific items.

Lol, not that i'm aware of, you could build your base near the guardian pig totem and build walls around it so that the pig keeps the torch burning and doesn't attack you but that's a bit tricky.
For the auto harvest... uhm... you can feed the pigs and they will follow you and help you but i don't know if they will help you harvest or eat the food that they gather, besides, you also need to be doing that same task so it won't be automatically done by them.

No offense but if you have problems with those mechanics then i think that the game isn't for you since they're the core of the game. With coop (whenever that leaves early acess) you can share the assignments making it more easier for you (but less resources since you have to share them)...

No, it's the exactly the same core as Minecraft of Terraria, but they have safezones.
Automation mainly thanks to mods, however.
Mm.. maybe there' some good mod for DS too..

Ehhhh, no, DS is a roguelike, the difficulty is higher and if you die then you lose everything (including the world that you were in it). As for mods, perhaps, if you have the patience then you can search for it here, not sure if there is a non steam version of them though.

Roguelike?? Noo, your definition for that genre is wrong :P
It's a survival, maybe a bit too "hardcore".

Damn Steam Workshop :\
