75% off Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Startopia, Thief, Hitman, Omikron and more…

Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, better and more beautiful than ever before, this weekend our Square Enix catalog is discounted more than ever before. It's 25+ titles at an all-time GOG.com high 75% discount - the Square (pho)Enix

Omikron: The Nomad Soul is usually $9.99 on GOG.com - but now it's way less than that. That's great, because Omikron is one of the biggest, strangest, most interesting classics out there. Omikron is probably the first all-in-one game out there, a curious mix of adventure game, shooter, and surprisingly competent fighter. It's not the perfect game, few are, but there is something about the world and ambience that makes it one of the most immersive and legendary titles. It's also got a cameo and exclusive track by David Bowie, now that's cool.

Every time you mention Deus Ex someone reinstalls it. This legendary title needs no introduction, but perhaps this time it's going to be you? The Thief series is a steal at 75% off, and the light-and-sound based stealth mechanics still hold up to this day, better than many of its contemporaries for that matter. Then, there is Hitman - a completely different take on stealth, but one that's equally captivating. Few games have hit as many of the right notes as Hitman 3: Contracts - and you'll become the ultimate predator in no time.

The Square (pho)Enix rises from the ashes this weekend, with 75% off - the highest GOG.com discount on the catalog so far! The promo will last until Tuesday, October 13, 3:59 AM GMT.
Tomb Raider 1+2+3 are sold separately on Steam. On GOG they come in one package and its on GOG!. So definetely it is the way to go. Insta buy...
I'm sure I saw this sale just a few weeks ago. We can't be running out of weekend sale ideas already, can we?

Niggles: Buy Daikatana everyone ;)
Just did :)
Lot's of great games in this promo but, honestly, it's like "You again?".

I would buy at least two games from this promo but i won't do it, so as to not give the wrong message to SE. We don't need more Square Enix sales - We need more Square Enix releases on GOG. I hope Revenant won't be the only new SE release for this year.

And dear Square Enix, how about some of your newer games, like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman Absolution, Tomb Raider (2013), which if i'm not mistaken, are published by you? Let them come here already!
My favourite part of winter!

mobutu: Is the TombRaider AngelOfDarkness really that bad?
btw, thanks for the promo
It's not that bad, but it's the weakest of the series.
Like Thief Deadly Shadows being the weakest of the original trilogy, still a fine game.

astroclay: It's a good promo, but there definitely needs to be some new releases at this point. Perhaps something along the lines of Dungeon Siege or Deus Ex HR? :)

I'm still tempted to pick up the Legacy of Kain series. Can the story be appreciated without playing the first Blood Omen game?
The Eidos Legacy of Kain series (i.e., all the titles except for the first Blood Omen) are completely playable and understandable without ever having played through the first one. In fact, the opening cinematic for Soul Reaver tells you everything you need to know in order to follow the story from there.

In my humble opinion, Blood Omen is, in fact, the worst of the series; I really like what Amy Hennig did with the series starting with Soul Reaver, basically turning the basic "vampire story" of the first one into an epic tale of huge literary proportions, dealing with the "fallen angel"/fall from grace mythos, the journey of the hero and a lot of "what makes a hero?" issues that the first game didn't have at all. When people praise the story and the writing in the LoK series, they're usually not talking about Blood Omen, it just happens to be tied to the rest of them because Crystal Dynamics never rebooted the franchise and Blood Omen remains canon to this day. Blood Omen is a good game that featured stellar AAA voice acting for its time (and I'm glad Crystal Dynamics stuck to that quality VA for the rest of the series), had decent-to-good gameplay in a 2D-Zelda meets Diablo fashion and had pretty decent writing -- for what it was, which is basically a run-of-the-mill revenge story featuring ordinary vampires and whatnot. You're better off just watching the cutscenes on YouTube before playing Soul Reaver, if you feel like really knowing the details of what happened in the first game.

So, all in all, I'd definitely recommend buying the LoK games on GOG, they are some of the best video games out there, the Soul Reaver saga, particularly, remains as one of the best examples of what the pinnacle of the action-adventure genre used to be (disclaimer: if you want to have some closure on the SR saga, you'll have to play Defiance as well, though).

Another reason to buy/already have Deus Ex.
It's coming soon.
This time for real. We promise.

I wouldn't call 12 weeks as few, but I agree they could have waited 1 more month.

Dzsono: I don't get it. Lots of people say this, but it's been rated down universally?

Geralt_of_Rivia: The point of buying Daikatana is to experience first hand how bad this game is. ;-)
So bad, it's good? I can get on board with that :)

I think you're underplaying the story a lot, maybe you haven't played it in quite a while.
There were a lot of plot characters, time manipulation, character development, double crosses and revelations. The story was very enjoyable, though slow to progress at times, and the game is my favourite of the series as I never liked the tomb raider style of the later games.

It's such a shame gog hasn't got it but it is a git to get working on modern OS's but there is a playstation 1 version out there that's also available on PS3/Vita/PSP via the digital store.

I bet you looked that up huh? Although it's probably just as bad if you remember straight up that it was 12 weeks :P

Sorry, it didn't 'feel' that long ago okay? :)

I'll have to agree, Blood Omen was a good game (I liked it better than Blood Omen 2, which frankly, I can't remember if I finished it) & one of the reasons I bought my PSP, so I can replay those great PSX games. It would be nice if it was released on GOG, so people who didn't played it back then, would experience first hand how the story begun.

As for the LoK series, I can't recommend them enough - great games.

deonast: Now if only there was a FLAC soundtrack with "Omikron: The Nomad Soul". Can't get it on amazon last time I looked either. Though I'd like to hear it one day. I like Bowie
How is the gameplay with Omikron? Is it an adventure game? Does it run in a window?
I'm still trying to fight the desire to get and play Invisible War. :)
