Up to 80% off hidden gems like Corpse Party, Prison Architect, Raiden Legacy, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, and more!

Sometimes the games that stay with you the longest are not the epic, loud, or visually impressive ones, but those who happen to come along when you're looking for something surprising and unconventional. Introversion + DotEmu + XSEED have plenty of that on offer, so if you're in the market for underground classics or out-of-the-box experiences, that's the right place for you. Especially with that handy up to 80% discount on them!

Have you ever attended an after school Corpse Party with your friends? It's not something you would forget: there are vengeful spirits, horrible secrets, and plenty of misplaced guts involved. If you navigate the mysteries and live to tell the tale, you'll be the talk of your school for ages to come! Shame about those you had to leave behind, though...

Every now and then you just need a good first-person RPG fix. Ishar Compilation will test your combat and orientation skills, as you're leading your party of five adventurers through the unfamiliar but rewarding dungeons where evil reigns supreme.

The pop culture has trained us to think of maximum security prisons as hellish backdrops for great breakout stories. Prison Architect lets you run the place and make sure that the conditions will not make your inmates itch for an escape. Not that they could pull it off, of course.

Looking for haunting stories, some old-school RPG fun, or a proper management challenge? It's all here inside the Introversion + DotEmu + XSEED catalogs, going for up to 80% off. Pick between Raiden Legacy, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, Little King's Story, Defcon, or one of the other little-known gems.
The promo will last until November 22, 4:59 AM UTC.

Geralt_of_Rivia: Ys 1 &2 aren't that great. They are remakes from really ancient games and so the gameplay is ancient, too. [..]
The best one IMHO is Origin, but [..] All three are definitely worth your time.
Mm.. maybe I'll wait for more discount then.
Also I'll look for more reviews, because some said that Origin and AoN are super grindy and less RPG-like.
Thanks.

omega64: Origin is my favourite, I'd recommend you play it.
Oh, I see another vote for Origin.

Origin only gets grindy when playing on Nightmare, but it's not as bad as in Napishtim right at the end (when you're struggling to get enough emel to upgrade just one sword to max). The game's held up really well, often with even more polish than Oath in Felghana (and better boss fights too). Hard mode is gonna be enough of a challenge while lasting around 7-12 hours depending on the character you play as.

masterotaku: Actually seven, because there is a Chinese Ys: Memories of Celceta port too. But I want them on GOG, DRM-free :p. If XSEED could get their hands on those ports at least...
avatar
Lucumo: Hm, you are correct. Released pretty much one year ago. I guess that underlines my point that I'm no fan anymore *cough*
Have you played that and Seven though? I only played the latter and that pretty much **** all over the series in what it was (Origin too in a sense but that is excused because of its unique position in the timeline + not having Adol in it). And the people that agreed with me regarding Seven and have the same perspective on the series as me say that Memories of Celceta is even worse. So yeah, not touching that. The saving grace for them is that while it alienates longtime fans, newer ones probably won't care as much about that part.
Ys Seven (Hard difficulty) pleasantly surprised me when I played it this summer. Some, if not a lot, of complaints about Seven and Celceta have apparently been answered by VIII this year. VIII's regained the difficulty of the mid-2000s games and has characters/areas/bosses more distinct and interesting than before. It's the biggest of the games yet, but seems to have kept its swift pacing.

IwubCheeze: Dreamfall is definately a game I gotta pick up. I got the Dreamfall final chapters as a freebie in a previous promo. I heard they were good games but now I'm finding it kind of annoying I have the third part but not parts 1 and 2 ;)
I think the actual "The Longest Journey" is a game loved by many - it's made all the "best adventure of all time" lists I have checked, anyway... So, definitely worth giving it a try ;)
The second one... less so, I'm afraid. I played the former a long time ago, the latter fairly recently, so that might be part of the reason, but I found DF:TLJ to be pretty to look at, but lacking in most other respects (character development/plot etc).

As for the promo, not much there that I really fancy, except for Prison Architect, which has a fine discount as well.
I also will take a good, hard look at my backlog now and make up my mind about whether to add one more to the bunch or not...

igrok: Maybe a review of the series on hardcoregaming101 might be helpful.
Oh, interesting +1

EDIT:
here he says: "Oath in Felghana [..] It's largely recognized by the fanbase as the best of the series [..]
and in the forum: "if VI is an 8.5 and Felghana is a 9.5, then Origin is like...a 7."

They're not really, if you fight all enemies you encounter you'll have to grind very little. (on normal)
Just don't play on harder difficulties as enemies do more damage and you get less exp from enemies.

The games are ARPGs, not pure RPGs. Think more Zelda and less Trails in the Sky. If you expected turn based combat or something like that you are looking at the wrong games.

If you like games like Zelda you'll love the Ys games. Check out some Let's Plays on YouTube if you are not sure about the games.

And the games are not grindy at all. The most improvement comes from better gear, not from grinding levels. You only need to grind a bit if you rushed through the game too fast and are having trouble with a boss. And then grinding 1-2 levels is usually enough and that can be done in 10-20 minutes.
Luckily, nothing from my wishlist this time, so my wallet is safe :)

Thanks for the info, JRPG are usually too hardcore about grinding lol.

P.s: I've edited my post exactly when you replied.

Lucumo: The most important part is to be made for such a thing, e.g. having a fitting voice, good vocabulary etc.
Hmmm, with that in mind, i wonder how this Pew Pie Pie guy even got successful. :P

avatar
GabiMoro: Taking in acount how much time you guys spend here I thought half of you have already done that.
I usually post here while at the job. :P

HypersomniacLive: Hmmm... not sure if it's this sort of backlog, and not before this wish gets completed!
It's interesting how people get in a situation like that. I guess that's when science quits, right?

Vythonaut: Hmmm, with that in mind, i wonder how this Pew Pie Pie guy even got successful. :P
Hey, it doesn't say you can't be successful without that...and his target group were children while he rode on the Minecraft train. If you want to target those...no idea. I guess you have to be reasonable good-looking (if you show your face) for the girls, be cool for the boys while providing content all the same. Too bad that you either are good-looking and/or cool or not. You can't change that (in a reasonable time frame) :P

Splatsch: Well, I think I'll go only with Darwinia for now, and will see after playing it a little if I want a bit more ! Thanks again :)
avatar
IAmSinistar: I love Darwinia and have played through it multiple times. This is the first time I've even launched Multiwinia, so I'd say you're in fine shape. :D
You guys made me trying Darwinia again. And I got an intro video which states:

"Darwinia - Final Release Cracked by DMA Crew I've been coding for 38 hours straight getting this crack working ..."

Is that normal?

I do not get that intro on every start, there are at least 7 different intro videos. But I'm still a bit surprised by that one.

guys, why isn't Uplink included in this sale?

phaolo: I have these games in the cart:
- ys 1 & 2 chronicles - 4.5$
- ys (3?) the oath in felghana - 4.5$

How is the series?
Are these the best ones?
Do they have "standalone" stories or are they open ended?
Might as well get Ark too, I enjoyed it more than Oath personally.

Hmmm, gotta love the scientific method; sounds good enough, if a little NSFW. :D
