66% off Arcanum, Pharaoh + Cleopatra, Gabriel Knight, Vampire: The Masquerade, Space Quest and more....

Activision just turned 36. What a number that is. Starting in 1979, Activision changed the developer/publisher dynamic in gaming, and soon became one of the biggest forces in the biz. Today, they own some of the most classic IPs here on GOG.com. So happy (belated) birthday, Activision, we totally didn't forget - we're celebrating the occasion with the entire catalog at an all-time high 66% off!

Do you want to be a hero? Set off on your Quest for Glory, an adventure/RPG hybrid full of humor and well-designed gameplay. The quest for glory games will let you grow from just a graduate of the Famous Adventurer’s Correspondence School into a hero of unparalleled skill. And whether you're a fighter, a mage, or a thief - overcoming open-ended challenges has never been quite as fun since.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is a legend. It's one of those games that were only possible in a very particular time of RPG experimentation on a massive scale. Troika's became famous for delivering exceptional vision and gameplay help back by bugs, but a massive community effort to bring titles like Arcanum to its intended glory mean that there's no better time to experience the legend that hasn't since been repeated.

Pharaoh + Cleopatra & Zeus + Poseidon are the definition of addictive. They strike the perfect balance between refined design and relatively simple gameplay that combine into a historical city-builder that you really, seriously, won't be able to put down.

There's more, of course, with Space Quest I+II+III, King's Quest IV+V+VI and over 30 Activision titles at 66% off. Happy Belated Birthday, Activision! The promo will last until Tuesday, October 6, 3:59 AM GMT.

Grargar: What later? The only later Caesar game is IV, which was released in 2006, so I'm not sure how tricky it would be to make it run. As for the earlier titles, there were DOS versions of 1 and 2, so again, I don't see much problem here.
For some reason I remembered there was a V. But IV was unstable as hell even back then, so I wonder if it would work well today. Anyway I would be happy if we'd get Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom at least.

Russonc: Interstate 76 keeps coming up to tempt me but the hoops it seems you must go through to get it running on W7 (or soon 10 I suppose) scare me away... :(...
I don't know how GOG can still sell that game seeing as it doesn't work on all modern Windows
I've already got everything I want, but I might pick up something to complete some series in my library.

Happy Birthday, Activision! Now, what better way to celebrate this joyous occasion than with the DRM-free release of VTM: Bloodlines on GOG? :P

It's extremely unlikely, which is good because I would need to start a new playthrough immediately and I already have too many games to play.

SLP2000: Lately we got some more Ubi classics, but generally your statement is true. I guess it's because GOG released games that were easy to release (no legal or tech problems).

The thing is, we still need a lot of Sierra games here.

We demand GOG to do something with it.

Oh, and of course - I already have all of those games, no money from me for Activision till they release more games here.
EA came to mind. They bought enough studios with great titles which aren't here.

stg83: Indeed, they will be bringing out Call of Duty 36 this year and certainly not easy innovating with it every year. :P
They'll probably innovate it the Ubisoft AC way:
- new key combos for those used to the old ones
- more bugs
- paid DLC (if not already available)
- spinoffs for mobiles and handhelds

I fear my comment was more sarcastic than hopeful; I already own the game from DotEmu, but as thankful as I was for that past opportunity to buy a digital DRM-free version of Bloodlines, I still don't understand what's keeping them from making this offer permanent. Especially since they'd most probably make a lot more money here on GOG than they did on DotEmu. I doubt it's related to license issues, as the game is availabe on Steam; it can't be the price either, if GOG agreed to sell Quake 2+3 for 20 bucks; and Bloodlines was offered DRM-free before. So what actually makes it "extremely unlikely", unless Activision still looks down on GOG's DRM-free policy (while making money off their backlist here)?

Mine was tongue in cheek as well, I own the game on Steam and physically.
Also, Strongbad is being sold for $30 so I doubt it's the price either :P
Buy Arcanum!

Funny, when I saw a reply I was hoping you'd say "oh it works fine now, grab it..." As it is, it's not worth the trouble with the massive backlog I have anyway... maybe someday GOG will make a good fix on this one.

edit - fixed a typo

Nice promo, good games but i'll have to agree that we need some new releases from Activision.

Aningan: Buy Arcanum!
...twice! :D
may check this out more this weekend.... Spycraft is another in this group that's had my eye for a while now (skipped it when it originally came out for some reason).

Maybe GOG's and Activision's original deal was made before GOG decided to extend their pricing points to above $9.99. In that case, though, I wonder how long it would take till a new deal was signed.

Aningan: Patch Arcanum!
Fixed.
I had not realised that the entire Activision catalogue comprises of exactly 32 titles, all of which have been here for ages.
High time for some new releases?
