Which games are keeping you company this weekend?

You must stay hidden.
The shadows are your most loyal friends: always there when you need them, always eager to consume your enemies on your behalf. Silence is your cruel mistress: caring and protective when you keep on her good side, deadly and vindictive when you disrespect her.
But what of your enemies? They are the ones who'll teach you, help you learn from your mistakes, and only succumb when you're finally ready to outsmart and outmanoeuvre them.
For in the best stealth games, the greatest challenge is to be patient, plan your every move, and wait for the right moment to strike. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is one such game, according to RockPaperShotgun, Kotaku, NZGamer, and pretty much everyone else.
Do you guys have any other personal favorites, when it comes to sneaky games? Let's hear them!

Surely you've got some gaming planned for this weekend, too. Perhaps you picked up some cool game(s) during our Monstrous Winter Sale that you're looking forward to firing up. Or are you still browsing, trying to make up your mind on what to get before all these sweet deals go away? Go on, share your Weekend Playlist with us. It can include single-player games, multiplayer games, console exclusives, anything - we are not judging. In fact, we are sharing too!

So, amiGOGs, what are you playing this weekend?

Morbidicus: I picked up the Disciples games so I'll be playing the first one. When I get tired of being awful at an old game, I'll switch to Age of Wonders III so I can be awful in a new(er) game.
Ditto on the Disciples games, lovinf the turn-based goodness. Old X-Coms were grating my retinas, but Xenonauts is very good fun.

Morbidicus: Not sure if it's the best stealth game, but one of the hardest ones I've played came out about 13 years ago called "Sneak Past the Baby's Room in an Old House With Squeaky Floorboards". Recently I've been playing the sequel, "Wake the Teenager on a Weekend Morning" and found that they've gone in a completely different direction.
In my day, "Getting Larey with your Carreers Officer about Limited Employment Prospects" was bad, and the string of short sequels were even worse, but I've been finding the recent remake, "Sneak Into the Building, Past The Manager & Half Your Colleagues, and Clock In - Without Them Even Realising You Were An Hour and a Half Late for Work" has given me huge amounts of XP, and the Faction Rep boost opened up a whole lot of side quests.
finished off manhunter: new york.

thinking of playing gold rush! next for my sierra december, but can't really decide between that and some of the other stuff in that library [some part of me wants to also play conquests of camelot/longbow. it's difficult to choose. the library is so vast :P]

i'm also - very slowly - plugging away at a 100% saints row 3 run in the background, mainly so i can write about it. the middle third is VERY slow. and picking off those "objectives" [get 500 headshots, etc] is...well, it's a little tedious :P] - will be picking up more of that on monday.

apart from that, i'm not really sure at all.

this is a reminder to gog, too. we know you've got the good stuff from the old sierra library, but there's so much more in there that you could sell [even if you only sell small numbers] - jones in the fast lane, troll's tale, conquests of camelot, etc. it's certainly worth looking into all that.
I'll dig into Mass Effect today, this one should keep me busy for quite a while.
Stealth favs? Well Metal Gear series of course along with Tenchu, but my new fav of all time since finally grabbing from gog and playing it for the first time a few years ago is now Thief Gold. Love that game.

Current plays? Kinda taking a break whilst reading up on the long manual for Civ III so i'm prepared. Looking forward to diving into my very first Civ game play.
Thief.

lostwolfe: finished off manhunter: new york.
*Tips hat*
One of the most underrated "adventure" games of yore, in my opinion. Desperately needs a remake, both for visual and gameplay reasons. The mini-games could get frustrating at times.

the mini games were ABSURD. lol.

if there's one thing a remake needs to do, it's to fix those. but yeah. it could have done with a little more work/polish. nice idea, though.
For pure stealth, I always loved the Tenchu series (mostly the first one, for PS, but Tenchu II was...interesting). (Very) Honorable mention to Medal of Honor (again, for PS).

As for what I'm playing. Well, I didn't get it on sale, but finally picked up Civ III - my fav in the series.
I'm finishing Witcher 2 tonight. I'm reading the last wish. And I bought Witcher 3 complete so I can get started right away.

Super excited!
My favourite stealth game is Dishonored :)
I replayed it so many times, that I could basically ghost my way through the game backwards with my eyes closed...

Wanted to play Dishonored 2 this weekend, but my PC died -_-
Done with all my exams, papers, and homework for this year, could finally play, then BAM. My PC just loves trolling me...
So I was playing Eschalon Book 2 and Sokobond on my absolutely-non-gaming-laptop instead =/

Damn, sorry to hear that, mate :/

If it's any consolation, when you get your PC back in working order, you're in for a treat. I may not be as impressed as some people, but I'm definitely enjoying my time with Dishonored 2. I'm about halfway through (I think) and there's a lot to love in there.

For stealth...

The last of us. I enjoyed firing a gun off to bait an enemy then ambush them.

huan: Thanks for sharing this. I tried Arx Fatalis in the past, but I couldn't get the magic to work and after an hour I lost interest and left it just sitting on my disk. I tried with Arx Libertatis now and this version has no trouble recognizing either of the (two) runes I know, so now I'll probably give it another chance.

V4V: Glad to be of service. :) I highly recommend that you do that, for Arx Fatalis/Libertatis being one of my all-time favorite games. Like Thief, it got many things right many of today's games lack. The most prominent one is the interface which manages to combine a direct FPS control with an point-to-click world interaction and item-management. I also cherish the atmosphere and free exploration of ~80% of the game area without any imminent pressure to follow the story – you just do what you feel like. As for atmosphere, the game has a creepy crypt that is still my personal reference for all creepy crypts in games (no spoilers here, you stumble upon its entrance quite early – to get inside is another matter :) ).
Arx, and subsequently, Dark Messiah, are big reasons why I became an Arkane fan.

You should listen to your friend: if Dishonored ever gets a DRM-free release, you should seriously consider picking it up.
Thief 2: The Metal Age I consider the best Stealth game

(But I have a personal preference for Thief: The Dark Project)
Best stealth game: Dishonored (haven't played 2). I love the fact that you can finish the game without getting noticed and without killing anyone. Also the controls are much better than for example the old Thief games.
