rtcvb32: HTTP, i don't see changing... but TCP/IP could include a few extra security features to ensure it wasn't changed in transit, although for proxy and forwarding i'm not so sure...
There's things like that coming with IPv6. And tbh, like IAmSinistar said, it's the price we have pay for freedom. I want things like TOR keep working, even if they can be abused in the most malicious manners. There has to be a way for anonymous communication and bypassing censorship. There is no guarantee that our "free democracies" will last forever (IMO we can watch them crumbling right now).

Agreed... Although when the system becomes annoying enough due to spammers and too many people abusing the system, sometimes it just has to be rebuilt from scratch...

Although probably once it goes down, it won't be coming back...

In short, we are screwed... maybe it won't happen for a few years, but sooner or later we are all royally screwed...

Well, until that happens I will hopefully have enough DRM-free games so I can lock myself in and never come out again. Ok, I shouldn't forget to care about non-perishable food...

Unless you are growing/hunting your own food, it will run out sooner or later. I probably have 6 months worth of beans, but that isn't really long enough for anything. And if power goes out, well all my frozen perishables will probably need to be eaten quick (making me a very very very fat turkey) or somehow dealt with; Although the deep freezer will likely stay cold for a week or so...

Gilozard: The only problem is that spambots are starting to defeat captchas. So it's not a permanent solution.
avatar
rtcvb32: Depends on the complexity of the Captcha........
Some captchas even defeat the purpose, being only recognized maybe by entities from the next dimension................but one thing is sure, some of them can´t be solved by actual humans.

And hopefully good ventilation. :)

Good start! Now go for the 6 months worth of beer (warning: much storage space needed) and you have an unbeatable combination to repel attackers.

For 6 months anyways... Afterwards i'll probably slowly starve to death, or make crude weapons out of zip drives and whatever's laying around...

Now to see if i can find that page/comic...

edit: Ahh here it is

Being a gaming site, maybe GOG should invent a new system using quicktime events.

Noo, I suck at QTEs!
To get back to the topic:
I thing a free society has to have at least a little bit of crime. A society without crime is a society without freedom. The spamwar gave us some to do and we felt like doing something good, without spending money on ist. So the spammers at least brought us together. When an enemy from the outside attacks even the greatest enemies inside unite to fight it.
Gotta read your Perry Rhodan!

Uh? That doesn't make any sense, are you just quoting that author?
So long as newbies with no bought games can't post new threads, it might be worth it to make stickied "ask a question about ____" threads in each subforum. For example, there could be one here in General Discussion where people can ask the community about GOG and its policies (and "is it a scam," which comes up every so often), and game subforums could have threads for inquiries about the GOG versions of those specific games.

Just a thought to keep the new spam prevention measures from being a hassle for new people.
Not 100% sure, but google translate suggests they have now decided to become traders...
