Worse than TV? That is a gross exaggeration. Most of the YT ads can be skipped after 5 seconds.
TV is basically unwatchable if you want a consistent experience. Unless you use the playback function where you can skip the ads.

I was completely overwhelmed and shocked with the current state on YouTube:
- first there is and ad at top-right of the screen
- then you often get a one minute ad before the video even starts
- then during the video you often get an ad banner
- but that is not enough, often the video just stops to display and ad, just like on TV
- then after it finishes there is another ad
Also there are blockers thankfully or using the site which leeches vids off of youtube, but I use it sometimes to watch ads to give a few pennies to my favorite YTers.

I dunno if you're one of the many who've been told logical and sensible solutions; (Buy an off lease computer from an office, Linux, work for CroTeam) but you've got absolutely no reason to be using Windows XP at this point, especially for a network computer.
