LOL.
Vast majority of people don't give two shits about privacy or targeted ads, but maybe they'll care about seeing ads when using the device they paid for to play games they paid for. Or... maybe not.

Corporations win because consumers never care enough to boycott something they want. I'm as guilty as anyone, owning a phone I know was made using what is basically slave labor by an evil dictatorship. I don't know what the answer is to this basic fact of human nature.

I find drinking helps.
I don't use Oculus, but screw FB for this anti-consumerism. If enough people mass exodus Oculus, maybe FB will change their mind. I wouldn't be surprised if they introduced subscription models immediately after so people can pay to avoid ads. They're more alluring to companies these days than worn shoes to foot fetishists.

Haven't used them before, but I heard good ethical things about Fairphone where they ensure the materials don't have any ethical conflicts and people are compensated fairly along the supply chain. Not sure if they work on US networks, so do your own research if it piques. The only alternative is to buy a used smartphone so you split the suffering per phone and help reduce e-waste.

I was very close to taking my first plunge into VR with an Oculus (specifically for Project Cars 2), when I heard about the FB crap. It was a close call.

People that own Oculus rigs from before the sale are not exempt. They also have no choice but to register an FB account or their rig is bricked.

I never got a VR rig because I couldn't be sure the same thing wouldn't happen again with my kit. It's a shame, but FB f*cked it up for me, and probably many others.
I Hate Fuckerberg and his defuckedo book and his newly acquired ocularse S-hit XD
