You paid for games not for Galaxy. The games can be downloaded, installed and played without Galaxy.

You should be fine since this is single-player. Try this: go to https://www.gog.com/account -> click on the game -> click on "Download Offline ..." dropdown menu, then download the one or more files through your browser. When all the files are downloaded, you should be able to double-click on the EXE file to install the game.

See picture, it might help. (damn how long has Zafehouse been only $2? I thought it used to be $10)

There was a time and an era, that no client existed here. Keep in mind that certain games, like NOX, won't run correctly, in a client environment.

GOG had always been, about standalone, DRM-Free installers, away from clients and sh_t. Most Goggers, use Galaxy as a glorified download service, usually. The only games that actually need a client, are Gwent and strictly Multiplayer titles. It is in your best interest as a gamer and a game owner, to skip the mediator, the client, to cut out the middle man as it were.

Galaxy 2.0 is still in BETA, which means it's in its testing phase and things like you describe can happen.
The current version of Galaxy is 1.2.66.64 which you can find at the bottom of the page (the big purple button saying "Download GOG Galaxy").
