I struggled a lot with the combat in Star Control 2/The Ur-Quan Masters even if it was kind of alright. I hope they can manage to renew that part but if not, better just use the system exactly as is and not chop it up and destroy the balancing, like a certain game did. No names but it ends with a 3.

I can relate to that. I'm always struggling with the control of my ship and never hit my enemy.

if you get to playing after all, I encourage you to play with the fan-made HD sprites
they're are totally appropriate and in-style and are actually high quality content
