OldOldGamer: And, reading review around, the game is crap.

Up to now, inXile didn't manage to impress me with good games.

Mostly they screwed up on most game they have done.
I don't know why anyone would support inxile or their kickstarters even when accounting for fans of Wasteland 2 and Nemenera. Different strokes for different folks indeed. IMO there is a limit you can ride the nostalgia train especially since they contributed to a game that was popular 20 years ago or something, but hey that is just my opinion man.

chandra: but if you were to write to Support, they could probably convert your purchase to Wallet Funds so you could get a different version

mk47at: Obviously your colleague watvin does not agree as yogsloth apparently did write to Support.
...Which is what chandra was responding to. Unfortunately, yogsloth seems to have misunderstood what chandra meant in her original answer, which is what (s)he was clarifying for yog in the post you quoted.

I don't think so. Any reasonable helpful and intelligent person working at support should offer that solution if he/she/it is asked about an inofficial upgrade. Responses like the one that yogsloth got cost a company a lot of money.
Yeah, I just asked if there was *any* way to get those extras, since the Kickstarter edition comes with literally nothing.

I got my e-mail from Ox to download all that stuff, but I don't plan on playing the game immediately, and I don't know how long they will be available. All of the DLC, feelies, extras, and even the bleedin' manual that we paid for... just not available. I don't get it.

You'll notice that yogsloth didn't actually post his query, only watvin's (the Support person's) reply. There was very likely another miscommunication between yog and watvin. Also, it's hardly unheard of that GOG Support staff are occasionally unaware of one policy or another; watvin might genuinely not have known that chandra's workaround was a thing that they can do. :)

baby jesus would beg to differ.

(As would I, for that matter.)

Stop funding them then. IB4 Kickstarter isn't funding or investing and the devs owe you nothing except a possible game.

I am sure GOG Support staff unaware of one policy or another at least sometimes.

Watvin is a new member of our team and probably just didn't phrase the reply right. Really sorry about any confusion caused by this. Even though I agree that Support should always provide the best solutions and give as detailed info as possible (and believe me, we try!), in the end we are only human and sometimes make mistakes.

I found a bit difficult getting the meaning of this.
Do you mean they are riding the nostalgia wave, with crap product?
Or that they appeal to a small user base that leave by nostalgia feelings?

Both really; I feel they frequently fail to meet the original concept marks of their projects, Rely on Nostalgia to receive funding in the first place, and deliver poor and budget products based on what was promised.

Personally for me, the biggest disappointment I've had from them is Torment, but that one set itself to fail by trying to re-create the feeling of original Plansescape, but even that wasn't a bad game, just underwhelming. Wasteland 2 is a good title despite its second half doesn't measure with the first.

BTIV is a lot better game what people claim it is. Its biggest problems come from tech issues and if those are ever sorted out it'll be a solid game. This comes from someone who doesn't really care of the original games though.
Yeap. Same feeling here.
I had a bit of a rant when I ve bought, carried away by nostaglia, Bards Tale remake, just to realize the completely unfinished state of the product.

My fault I ve bought it, without checking, sure.
But still feel inxile is not doing a good job in releasing products.

Wastelands 2, that I played 15 hours, I ve found it boring and unimpressive. Completely lacking the depth nor atmosphere od the original title.

True is that, those games were unique.
Because of the crap graphics.
Because they were the first, creating a genre.
Because they were pioneer on everyrhing.
Because with so limited tech they had to focus on contents.

Now; 30 years later, to concoct such a patamount work needs high skills. High inspiratio and taking risks. And skills in blending powerful experiences.

I don t know if inXile have all of the above, but they seems more interested in exploiting "feelings" for easy cash, rather than picking up the challenge to deliver.

Here is the main problems.
These are average games at best.
Noting stands out.
Unfortunately for videogames, to be succeaful, the technical implementation matter.

These games would probably be the averge indie game, if not for the title.
They would not give anything to the market.
And they probably would sell 50% they do, because they would have a generic name, no one care of: Barrow's warrior for example

Exploiting old, historical franchises, in these cases, is pire marketing to boost sales of some average or mediocre games that would not stand on their own merits.

Sorry for the Eglish, I m writing from a mobile.

I had a very good experience Kickstarting Wasteland 2. The original is my favorite RPG of all time, so I jumped right in. For my $50 I got a copy on GOG with all the extras PLUS a nice DRM-free physical copy. I loved the game - I don't get all the hate it receives - I thought it was amazing and definitely gave me what I was looking for.

I didn't Kickstart Torment, because they hadn't delivered Wasteland 2 yet, and I was waiting to make sure that worked out before backing a second game.

Once they did, and I was loving it, I was happy to Kickstart Bard's Tale IV - and even got a plain-Jane copy of Torment in the process. (Haven't played it yet.) I'm also paid up for Wasteland 3 as well.

So I don't feel like I've had a bad experience with InXile overall so far, and I don't regret my decisions to give 'em my money early... but yeah, this one wasn't done right. I still have some hope somebody at InXile will hear about it and find a way to correct it.
