It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I see that my offline library gets a lot of updates which I do download and replace.
Some of these I need and (I guess) many I don't need.
The last one was "There is no game; wrong dimension". Now without any information as to what changed, I'll have to update that one to keep my library current. It would bee cool though to know what actually changed and to what version to not download unnecessary contents. Right now I do not have my games harddrive connected and so do not know if the Windows version was updated and so downloaded yet again.
In my view, a history or what changed would be beneficial, both for users and the download servers, at least for us with 500+ games on our account.

Any views on this would be appreciated.

(Obviously, I do not play online and so do not use the GOG Galaxy client. Others may disagree, but it is my choise)

Many of us have been asking for a long time for detailed changelogs. I used to be someone who updated for the sake of it on every new alert thinking newer was always better but there are some games here like Divinity Original Sin where a bug was introduced that still remains unfixed or Obduction's broken custom key bindings on post VR support builds whilst GOG refuse to provide an non-buggy older build to offline installer users means I now only update when there's an actual reason to and have adopted a more "If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it" approach to version number chasing...

Yeah, it would be nice if we didn't have to rely on a forum thread or external platforms, especially for games that update irritatingly often.

I agree that relying on users to provide updates for us is kinda backwards. It should be GOG that has a detailed and consolidated thread to ensure accuracy of the release of update information.

There was a time the update notifications made sense along with the changelogs. Now it seems both seem out of sync or at least that's how it appears to me.

To be a fly on the wall to see how or if they discuss these issues at their meetings lol.

This. I know it takes some extra storage space, but they really should have the previous version remain for a certain period of time in case some update borks the game.

For now I usually keep a backup of at least 1 to 2 versions just in case, but we users really shouldn't have to take those extra steps.

It’s not going to change, been talked about many times:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/provide_a_full_and_complete_changelogged_download_system

Official response: “use the “optional” client”. One of the many reasons I am not buying here at the moment:

I read bits and pieces of the above threads and find it saddening. Like one writes, I too do not have social media out of principal privacy concerns. The common.dll mentioned is not any concern as my firewall is reversed and only the programs I manually allow can access the internet (and that means no games), just to address the last few replies in one of the threads.
The support is currently below par in my view as well. My request, from February 12th, where a promised lossless .wav download for the "Embracelet soundttrack" is linking to a lossy .mp3. It is still not fixed; how hard can it be uploading a lossless alternative and keep your promise?

Whatever, if they're going the client route like Steam, it is time for this silver gamer to move on to "greener fields".

Thanks for the input everyone, appreciated.
