StingingVelvet: The original is amazing. I remember 2 and 3 being much worse, but I'm halfway through 2 now and it's not bad. Nowhere near as good as 1, and the Xboxyness of it is annoying, but it's fun.
I dislike some things about it, but I also liked other things(the one fat tech guy character and that merc commander, the music in some spots, some locations, the mech suits, etc).

Basically I give the minuses more of a free pass due to the world building and such being so good and being a fan of the series.

On the opposite side of the player base, however, you have the ones who dislike ANY change to the original games in thir favorite series, and they will pick apart the newer installments and blow any problems out of proportion(or even cast aside new entries) due to nostalgia/etc. Those sorts I pity, as they cast aside games that might be good for various often senseless reasons.

AB2012: Indeed. It's entirely down to taste, but there are instructions here on how to add the HD texture packs:-
- Before.
- After.
I did not install HD pack. I think the game looks beautiful the way it is, but thanks for the link.

HD texture packs ruin the look I reckon.

Depends....some HD packs just take the old textures and make them higher res, and some do change stuff but make the game look much better(like the SS2 ones, for example).

Of course, yes, some make some games look worse or not any better anyways.

That game has some excellent mods once one has finished the game once and wants to try it in a new way.
Funny that the series that made Epic famous is relegated to a side fan project these days. Gotta milk that Fortnite cow as long as it keeps giving. Screw the legacy, there is money at stake.

As a big Unreal fan, it still hurts.

The only upgrade for Unreal I tolerate is the "oldunreal patch". It modernizes some things and makes better compatibity. FOV, Widescreen, framerate, multi etc, and it looks like in the old days.

I´d use revision for Deus ex but I consider it is too huge in size for what it offers and I always end playing the game with a revised renderer and at low resolutions ( It looks fine too) because the tiny GUI size and fonts in 1366x768 when selected.

Greetings
Unreal is great. Too bad that the second part couldn't reach that level.

I'm one of a few people who have not played the original Deus Ex, so it's definitely at the top of my "must playlist".

Yeah literally all my issues with FEAR 2 are related to the Xbox being the obvious lead platform. The game itself is almost as good, very fun.

Did you ever or will you ever play the expansion to FEAR 2(Reborn I think it's called)?

Also yeah it is good.....FEAR 3 is also somewhat decent(The various areas are often nice, some of the cutscenes are good, some of the new enemy types are also fun yet challenging, etc), though it is missing a few elements I liked from the originals(like finding documents to read, making it nearly a straight shooter with less extra stuff to find, etc).

I played Reborn but barely remember it. I played FEAR 3 and barely remember it other than Fettel's cool powers. I'm about to get to them though, replaying the whole series, so we'll see what I think. In the last couple levels of FEAR 2 at the moment.

Yeah Reborn is short as hell but I think it had some fun moments(like I think one is a sideways collapsed building...fun times) and nice ending.

As for the ending of FEAR 2...great game, but those last few areas were kinda meh compared to earlier ones...what do you think?
