Lin545: Being a Fallout 1-2/3-nv fan, I find graphic design of Underail to be way sub par to Fallout 2.
Also it has no miniguns and already mentioned absence of minimap.
Yeah, once you get the Bozar, you can't go back ;)

DampSquib: Forgive me but i don't think i understand your question....
Neither game has much in common, if you mean what would i recommend because i like both that you mention, then that leaves a vast scope of games................but for now, i'd go with Subterrain, Grim Dawn, Torchlight 2.
Many others but will refrain just in case i'm way off course with what you are after.
Its just based upon the few games which you like, we both probably have the about same preference.
Its pretty abstract question.

I already have TL2 & TL1 and the Grim Dawn is already of my wishlist =)
Do you miss the absence of turrets in Subterrain?.. The setting is interesting, but I was turned down after I found that those are absent, because in a somewhat similar game (insane asylum zombie assault 2) they add a lot.

I've played Underrail and Balrum, and I really liked them both.
Underrail is a good choice if you want a more typical cRPG, whereas Balrum has a more relaxed and innovative feel to it.

With Underrail the focus is on the missions and the combat, whereas in Balrum it's more on the survivalist aspects; crafting stuff, making sure you have access to - and enough supply of - food and water, etc.

I think of Balrum as a fusion between a Spiderweb game, or an Eschalon game, and something like Terraria.
It has attributes that remind me of cRPGs, as well as characteristics taken from modern games.
It's a hybrid that, to me, feels quirky and quite unique ... and also very different from Underrail and other cRPGs.

Underrail is more similar to the old cRPGs, but has a cool sci-fi storyline; we don't get that many sci-fi RPGs these days and this is a very good one.

Exanima seems too Dark Souls-y for my taste, I'm also not sold on the camera angles.

Other games that might interest you:
Serpent inf the Staglands
Lords of Xulima

Nah turrets aren't all that important, the games pretty good.
Bad ending, crap crafting system, are it's main downsides for me..dubious replayability too.
Worth playing....maybe pick it up in a sale if you're hesitant.
I've seen your wishlist hehehe, Pillars is a superb game, best played on the most difficult setting tbh.
Once you've become accustomed to the game on a lower setting that is.
Oh and TL2 is on your wishlist you may wanna remove it....just in case.
Never heard of the game you mention.......have to look that one up later.

Thank you very much! Nice, I will then watch more subterrain reviews to understand your criticism, but its much appreciated! I am not a big fan of 1-time games really, except they are in same scale of epicness like NOLF2.

Pillars is constantly ranking the N1 selling list and got extremely positive reviews, but it looks like huge time sponge - thus its still the wishlist.

Regarding TL2 - I have purchased it drmfree long ago on HB by coincidence, since then it disappeared and was very long on the gog game wishlist where you can see also my entry. I've got TL1 from GOG though and having only very very few games on HB (especially after seeing HB go nearly-all-steam) TL2 is in my wishlist purely due to "get it on sales" reason. :)

SAS zombie assault is pretty good for a flash game. It can be downloaded and played offline. There is another one similar done in flash - Saturday night bloodfest, but it is moving direction Crimsonland.
